Henry & family & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were all here for dinner today. Elmer Kammler came here this afternoon & paid Uncle Fred’s his $10.00 rent for the first & last time. Phillip Freund was here for supper, then we all went to the show in the new school hall. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family came all up to see it. It sure was good. Adm. was 10 & 25¢ and 25% of what they took in went for the hall. They also sold candy 10¢ & in some boxes you get a coupon & on there you could win perfume, pillows, razor & many different articles. Aunt Mary got a waste basket. It was all over about 9:30. They are going to be at Smithton on Feb. 5 there they will also give a dance.

Henry & family were all here for dinner, today after dinner Henry went up to see the priest. We went out to Uncle Fred’s and Aunt Mary’s this evening & listened to the Radio & had lunch there too. They was up at our house this morning. Mrs. Seibert is getting buried this morning at Smithton. Henry took the barrel & kettle along home, he is going to butcher tomorrow.

We washed, ironed, fry down meat & sausage today. Arlene Klotz is 4 yr. old today. Papa went out in the woods this afternoon. We sent a check to the Mutual Auto Ins. Co. for the Whippet $7.18. Today Father Powell is getting buried at O’Fallon & Miss Baetje at Smithton. This evening we went out to Uncle Fred’s & Aunt Mary’s & listened to there radio & victrola. She baked caramel cookies.

We are butchering one hog today. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary, Henry & family were all here for lunch & dinner. Steve Rennecker was over this morning also a little while. This afternoon Aunt Mary & Bertille went to Mrs. Rausch funeral. There were so many people there so we just went as far as the house, because the church would of been crowded anyway. It was an awful large funeral. Miss Elsie Rausch is going to go down by Mrs. Brauns now the way we heard. We were going out to Uncle Fred’s, Aunt Mary’s & met then coming to our place, right by the cemetery, so we turned around & came back home again, we were going out to listen to their radio, but there receiver didn’t work, so they brought it up this evening, so we could take it along to Belleville tomorrow. They want to get one now from Philip Braun’s, so when they got there Mrs. Braun wasn’t at home, she went along over to St. Louis with Victor & the rest didn’t know were it was at, so Aunt Mary & Uncle Fred came down again. I seen in the paper that Miss Emma Baetje from Smithton died.

Today is Thanksgiving. Uncle Fred’s are going to butcher, they are getting 2 fat hogs from Walter Stahl for .9¢ delivered. Tonight is to be Box Supper in the Church Hall. We all went out to Uncle Fred’s today. We stayed for supper. Oscar Birkner’s family & Henry Brand were also helping. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up here this evening & then we all went to the Box Supper. There we danced first & then afterwards sold the boxes, there were 7 boxes to sell. They were sold as follows: Helen Braun, Rex Rapp, Verna Stiehl, Clarence Braun, Marie Truttman, Ray Braun, Angela Eichenseer, Fr. Grootens, Pearl Griffins, Victor Braun, Rosella Braun, Ben Schilling, Alvera Braun, Olivia Pour. The highest box brought $1.50, Rex Rapp’s bought it. The only ones that eat together were Angela & Fr. the rest all left for a Smithton dance.

Today is Mrs. Napier’s birthday. We washed this morning. Papa went out to Henry’s. Osie Neff is butchering a cow for him, he is going to take it to Waterloo and sell it there. Papa had dinner out there & then he took some beef back to Willie Ganley’s & then brought some to Uncle Fred’s. Rosalia & Bertille went out to Aunt Mary’s this afternoon & finished our dresses. This evening Rosalia & Bertille went up to see Mamie, we played cards & dominos. Mr. Fries is getting buried this afternoon at New Athens. There is also 2 funerals at Smithton, Mr. Heinrich, Mrs. Weyhaupt.

We had our first snow this morning for this year. Today is shooting matches all over, George Boll’s, Martin Doyl’s, Mike McCarthy’s. There is also a picnic in Smithton fish fry and dance tonight. Henry and family were all here for dinner today. We had roast beef. Tonight Rosalia & Bertille went to the picture show in the new school hall, the name of the show was “Noah’s Ark” in 10 reels. There was a good crowd there. Admission was 10 and 25¢.

Bertille cleaned house this morning. We made some sweet chow-chow this afternoon & also some piccalilli. One of our white young pullets died today. Rosalia & Bertille went to church this evening. Rosary Devotion again. When we came out of church it just started pouring down raining. Tonight is also the Literary Meeting down in the Public School House. Speakers are H.M. Hill, Wm. Wiegand, Dr. Bock from Smithton & Greg McCarthy teacher.

Mrs. Alfred Stahl got buried yesterday afternoon at Smithton. She died in the hospital Friday at 6:30 in the evening. She was operated for gall stones about 4 weeks ago. Rosalia & Bertille went to Henry’s this afternoon to iron and help to work. They are sewing wheat, he wants to finish tomorrow. Mr. Hill was here this evening & collected telephone dues. We found 39 eggs today. Papa got the oil changed in the Whippet last Sat. in Waterloo, 6505 miles.
