Dougherty & Fahey wedding at Red Bud church, dance in Renault tonite; she is our cousin. Papa & Rosalia took 3 hogs to Belleville to Strecks this morning; got $3.60. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up. We went out to Henry’s this evening, he was working today, finished planting corn, awful hot. Eggs 13¢.

Pap & Rose went to Belleville with some more hogs. Seen in the paper that Roy Cameron a farm hand, now near Belleville, but formerly worked for Ald. Rittmeyer was married to a girl near Belleville on last Mar. 15. at Carlye Ill. by Justice of Peace. Got $3.55, for hogs. 475 lb. they brought some beef along 12¢ lb. sure high, to what hogs are. Mr. & Mrs. Ben Heyl stopped in. Ben took a look at the hogs; but to high price for him. Mr. Ralph Collei of Waterloo, Insurance Agent, gave us a call told us his wife Manda came back to him, & also Mark he was gone 6 mon. & in 13 states; he went to Washington, first place; the girls are going to high school in St. Louis. A man here wanted a pair socks, we gave him some old ones; he was walking from Belleville, wanted to go to Red Bud, said his feet were sweating & wanted a pair dry socks. Milton Wagner, brought the beef sack, here & invited us to his Wedding dance next Sat. in Kammlers Hall. It was in the paper that Hy. Wedel Jr. was granted a divorce from his wife Leona Mueller. Prestitzle & his wife’s case was in court, too for divorce but it is dropped. Omer Schilling birthday.

Papa & Rose went to Belleville to Streck’s with 2 hogs, got $3.70 lb. had 415 lbs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to work. Papa & Rosalia got load rock & sand out of the branch. We went to Red Bud this evening to get medicine to spray chicks, but Zipfel wasn’t there, he went to Evansville. Al Vonderhide baby of Red Bud died will be buried Wed. afternoon; Mrs. nee Schmidt, mail carriers sister’s child. It turned awful cold this evening. “Ginger Girls” a 3 act play will be given in Paderborn Hall by the St. Libory Dramatic Club; tonight. It froze ice this morn.

We washed, ironed, patched. Nic Schaefer came, papa had to sign a paper for him again that he bought hogs from him, his paper’s came back. Henry came went to the meeting in the School house, & had the slight error corrected on the contract. He borrowed $18.00 & went down to Red Bud to Ed Pautler & paid his oil & gas bill. The five men had pratice [sic] about hr. today again. Rose went to Hecker with 18 doz. eggs. It is warmer again today. Eggs 15¢.

Yesterday it was so warm last nite colder & also this morn. Rosalia spaded a piece in the garden. Nearly everybody made garden yesterday, it was so nice. We went out in the woods this afternoon. George Wagner came & paid for his hog, 210 lbs. @ $4.50. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped on there way to Red Bud. Otto Horn suit agent was here. We went to Red Bud, church, then to Buehler’s, Ivo’s birthday, cake & wine was served. Henry Birkner & family where the only ones down.

We ironed, & patched; this morning; cleaned chicken house, hauled it out on 1 horse sleigh. Oh Boy, what a sleigh ride we had. The saw sharpener man brought our saws, lawn mower, scissor, all back today, everything OK, all for 85¢. We sewed quilt patches. Hogs are down again today to top $4.75, yesterday $5. eggs 14 ½¢ in paper; yesterday 15¢. Sun is shining nice, but it isn’t warm.

Pap & Rosalia went out in the woods. Awful cloudy look like rain, warm; it was to warm yesterday. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Josie went to Buehler’s at Red Bud, butchering today. Celcia [sic – Cecelia] Parker got a package here, what Clem gave us last nite to bring along for them. Mrs. Stehefest called up, told us to tell Aunt Mary that Willies Birkner’s got quilting, that she could come today. Uncle Fred & then came back, stop & then went out sawing wood by Oscar Birkner’s. People here from Bellville [sic] looking for fat hogs. We got bottle peruna for colds sent by mail.

We washed, nice day, papa went out in woods. Wrote Wm. Ganley a nice letter this morn. Pap & Rose went to the woods. A man around selling soap chips & face soap. Mr. Hill was here for news. Lucinda Eichenseer was around selling chances for quilt, have one already. Eggs are 15¢ today, top hogs $4.50. Mr. George Parrot, died Sun. buried Wed. morn, at Red Bud church & cemetery, Mrs. Joe Mauer’s father, he was 67.

Henry & family came, they went to Bellville [sic] & kids stayed here. Mr. Henry Meng was here paid for his hogs. 207-179 @ $3.70. A man was around taking orders for the New Democrat, $5.00 yr. with a premium, salt & pepper shaker, flour, & sugar, & dripping bowl; we ordered it for 1 yr. A boy around had suit case full of things to sell, all kind of articles, we bought bottle of iodine from him for a dime. We went to Renneckers awhile this evening. Mr. & Mrs. Martin Fritsche also came; we played 4 hand pinochle; Mr. Fritsche & papa partners won 2 games out of seven; wine & apples were served.

Mr. L. Kammler, Romen Meng & Henry Meng got a 2 hogs 207-179 lbs. for Meng. Louis Dehn came last night & paid his hog, 216 lbs. @ $3.70, up again since Mon. Bertille got a money order, & sent it of [sic – off] for the process tax on hogs. Papa & Bertille went to Smithon [sic], took the rest of the gold in, had to pay 75¢ to get sent away. Geodelle the bread man came, we didn’t order none. Papa went down to Ed. Pabsts, he wants to make lumber logs from our woods.
