Scheinder is still puting [sic] up hay. Papa is working corn ground. Clarence Wittenauer & Wilfred Eichenseers where here talk business on ball ground, he took it & brought $12 so far, has $3 more to make, Clarence had asked all the business places in town, but couldn’t get any more & that together. Arthur Schaefer planted corn for us today for 50¢ & had lunch here. Papa was out to see him this morning about it. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, we helped them pick & stone cherries. Uncle Fred used the mule over there this afternoon. Louis Reifschender was here, looked at the mule. eggs are only 7¢ at Eichenseers today.

We washed, ironed, washed dresses & curtains. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here. Emil came up to Hecker with buggy & horses came here awhile, paid papa 50¢ wood sawing. We planted flowers out. Eggs are 8¢. Uncle Fred got a new blade put in his lawn mower at Bill Fritsche’s. The Belleville Rendering Co. was out last Sat. & got 2 dead horses, Barney Kaiser’s & John Krehers.

We washed, ironed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening, brought tomato & cabbage plants along; for Leona. Henry & family came to. & also Bill & Mike, Creses & Mrs. Al Scheinder & her boy. Creses, Rosalia & Bertille went to the baseball dance in Kammler’s hall. They pulled our machine in to Waterloo, behind Bill’s; he is going to finished it in there. Papa went over to Meng’s awhile this morn. eggs are 9¢.

Raining all morning, nothing but rain. The baseball team went over & played with New Athens yesterday. Hecker won with score 19 to 1. Bertille went up town mailed a letter to Cresces. We went to Waterloo this afternoon took our eggs in got 11¢ doz., got some repair done on Chev, for 20¢ at Schrieber’s. Papa took eggs up to Hecker this evening; got 10¢. George Wagner & family where here this evening.

It sure rained & hail, wind this morn about 2 oclock, lots of rain, every day this week. Today is court again in Waterloo, cases of J. Brauer, Kaisers forclosure [sic] & all that; & Annie Schiender divorce. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to story over nite in Hecker again, we planted our house flowers out; they look pretty. Cyril brought some flowers, to, cosmos. Clara Wagner & kids came while we where planting; eggs are 10¢ today. We washed both cars, & fixed them up.

Uncle Adam is 84 yrs. old today. Bertille is all broken out with the measles or the 48 hr. Freezels as they call them. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner, then we all went to Snook by Waterloo to a sales forclosures [sic] sale by Mr. Metzger, he forclosed [sic] him & sold out. The Hecker All Stars rented a piece of land from us & are working on it today, getting ball ground in order. An Inquest was held at Blackburn’s this afternoon. The Birkner boys where called as jurors, Uncle Fred was called to, but wasn’t at home anymore when they called for him. It is a real nice day & evening. Eggs are only 10¢ at Connor’s today.

We baked bread & coffee cake. Papa & Rosalia finished strawing potatoes this morn. We went to Waterloo round the hard road, eggs are 11¢ by Connor’s; came home by the way of Paderborn, stopped at John Kruse, & looked at a mower, but he wants to much for it. Wm. Ganley was here brought Int. $25.00.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & got there potatoe [sic] plow then went home this morning. Papa & Rosalia are strawing potatoes this morn. A man here from Belleville that has a store bought 36 doz. eggs here at 10¢. We went to Belleville this afternoon, met Joe Hilpert there. Two ladies of Red Bud where here yesterday soliciting for euchre prizes for next Thurs. nite the Swing Circle has a euchre; we got a pair of pillow cases & stamped & worked them out as a prize. We went out to George Boll’s & then out to Henry’s, awhile, Mrs. Cleveland, Grover, & Miss Miles the teacher came up to, awhile. Henry shipped a calf over to St. Louis with Eichenseer, & it only brought $1.40 @ 2½¢; it is awful.

We went to Waterloo this afternoon, eggs are 10¢ today. We got 2 new tires & tubes from John Horn; for $12.60 & was allowed $3.30 for our old tire & tubes. We went through Red Bud. Henry was in too. We were at Bill Reischfueder’s & looked at a horse, but didn’t make any business.
