Holiday. Uncle Fred & A. Mary stopped awhile & went home. Cold & getting colder. 12 above suppose to be 4 to nite. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came Bert [Bertille] went along to Belleville; stopped at Orlets few minutes. Tonite is Devotions for Married people only, this afternoon for young people. Thirtheen [sic] Hr. Devotion in Hecker. Mrs. Mehrmann got 7 doz. eggs. @ 26¢ went up 1¢ yesterday. Adolph Schaefer’s have a baby boy since 2 weeks ago. Henry Heulsheim also have baby boy, thats 2 boys in family now.

Fried down bacon & sausage, ironed this afternoon. Pap went to Waterloo, got his overcoat $13.39 from Pieper. Ralph Wiegand came, he wanted to measure our hog feeder he wants to make one. Berniece got 6 doz. eggs. 25¢ now.

Bernice got eggs. @ 26¢. Pap went out on business trip. Lester Mehrmann & Geradline [sic – Geraldine] Werling were married yesterday eve. at 5 o clock candle light wedding. Vic Papenberg is hauling sand for Rob. Laut’s to build new house in spring. Roy Staufenbiel & Jake. Ed. Schnieder were visiting Emil tonite at 12 o clock she called wanted to know if Roy was still here but just then he came home.

Armistice Day. H. Wittinauer’s boy stoped [sic] in this morn. Sure warm weather for this time of year. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came this afternoon. Lerna [unclear – could be Leona?] Meng came over to see them. Uncle went to Stahlehebers to see John, he is home today from Woodriver Ill. Mrs. Mehrmann got 5 doz. eggs @ 28¢. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came Bert [Bertille] went along to Floraville to Bocker’s free dance, music by Cowboys of Alton, pretty nice, bass fidale [sic – fiddle], guitar, banjo & fiddle. pretty nice crowd, present; Och. formerly Smithton boys now of Alton.

Rained last nite, cloudy this morn. Ed Pabst had shooting match yesterday, also gave attendance prize. We cleaned hen house, etc. Burdgorgf looked at the sow, bought it for $8.50 lb; got it his eve. weighed 470 lbs; went to Hy. Hepps to get heifers also, he is going to move to Red Bud tomorrow. Pap went to Red Bud got the money & seen hog weighed. Rained today, showers. Eggs 28¢.

Sure some nice weather. to warm. Pap went out in woods, hauled home some butchering wood. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up this morning, had dinner here; fixing pumps etc. Bert [Bertille] fixed curtains. Emil moved in this afternoon, Joe & Levi Gregson helping. Mehrmann got 8 doz. eggs @ 25¢. took bu. turnips along again. Schmidt brought egg mash down, & settled the lard, we sold 6 gals. The Catholics have euchre in Red Bud tonite. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary had 10 got house slippers & U. [Uncle] Fred – 11 – dress goods; not much of a crowd, Seifert got quilt that was raffled; prizes were all seperated. [sic]

Windy & cold. Mehrmann got 8 doz. eggs @ 23¢. took bu. turnips for 50¢. Schmidt brought sack egg mash, took bu. turnips along back & 2 gals. lard emptied the 4 gal. paid 12¢ lb. Bert [Bertille] varnished kitchen floor. We went to Leo & Rose [Rosalia] for supper, Leo had to get his molasses from Keim’s, 13 gals. send 2 along home with us. Feureur brought us 12 bus. potatoes Wed. evening; so we have some to sell to.

Send a card for us to get group picture of Chas. Stookey’s Early Bird gang at KVSK. We had beef soup dinner. Schmidt brought sack mash feed; took our 4 gal. crock lard @ 12¢ lb. Mehrmann got 7 doz. eggs .21¢ & ½ bu. sweet potatoes 50¢; H. Wittenauer took ½ bu. to; sewing wheat here, yesterday afternoon & today. Cleaned bedroom, varnished furniture, & going to varnish floor tomorrow. Reports is that Mr. & Mrs. Pete Watchel have a baby boy Leroy, Tues. 4 girls 1 boy, & Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Wiegand have baby girl since Sun. morning.

Beautiful weather, cut lawn yesterday. Pap hauling wood with truck. Berti [Bertille] cleaned front room, varnished floor. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up again this afternoon. We took them along to Waterloo, euchre tonite; at Memorial Hall, had big crowd; played 8 games & 10 points at head table. Pap won 7 got ovenware casserole, & Bert had 6, got water bucket. U. [Uncle] Fred 6 – got tablespoons. A. [Aunt] Mary only had 4, her name didn’t come out, only 4 prizes left for 4; played pinochle – 500. Domioes [sic] & euchre all 8 games blanket attendance prize; were mostly all strange to us. Mehrmann got 5 doz. eggs. 21¢. Band pratice [sic] at Geodelle’s tonite.

Cleaned room & hall finished upstairs, only washing to do. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up this afternoon fixing his basement. Pap hauled 3 loads wood today with truck. Henry brought load corn. Sure hot today. Bersche brought our sewing machine all fixed $3.50 & also took Rose [Rosalia] to there place $18.50. all varnished. Mrs. Mehrmann got 5 doz. eggs. yesterday 22¢. Wheat in paper $1.02.
