Labor Day. Rosalia’s 22 yr. birthday. It is little cloudy. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & we went to Red Bud, seen the parade there, then went to Tipton pinic [sic], had supper, stayed for the dance. Koehler’s Ors. furnished music for afternoon & eve, the Waterloo band came there & played from Red Bud, all on bus, they got 100 glass beer, then went to Valemeyer, got the rest there. Chas. Jung treated them to ball. beer. Pretty large crowd present; at the pinic [sic].

The log men stopped again this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came we all went to Ripplimeyer sale by Maeystown. Henry & family came to celebrated Rosalia’s birthday, we had watermelon, cake,. Fr. Aydt came about 8 & stayed till 10.

Mr. Eichenseer is 65 yrs. old today, the family where going to have Valley of the Moon, over the radio for him. Rosalia & Bert went out to Henry’s cleaned, & baked, washed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here got papa & him & Uncle Fred went in & Aunt Mary stayed by Henry’s. Mr. Walter Coap, Paul & Clem Parker, Oliver Pours left yesterday by car for the World’s Fair. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had lunch here, he helped put up stand for the pinic [sic] tomorrow. Mr. Hill is 77 yrs. old today. Mr. Wm. Ganley was here & paid Int; $33.50, still $1.77 still due. Papa went up to Maniers Park to the meeting, the farm advisor was the main speaker. Quite a few people attended the meeting.

We went to Red Bud, the Catholic will have pinic [sic] & chicken supper, Aug. 8. Hecker ball team played Douglas last Sun. here & won 7 to 5, & today are playing up at Belleville, & lost 24 to 2. Mrs. Cleveland’s is celebrating her birthday today, her mother came along back with here from Centralia. Ruth Braun was here selling chances for the pinic here in Hecker on Aug. 12; we took one. Mr. & Mrs. Rennecker came over awhile, till they got company. Katie came. It sure rained nice here; some places they can thresh like by Pour’s.

Today is 3 anniversary of Gambach bros. Steve’s Renneker birthday, also Agnes Gregson. Rosalia & Bertille went out washing at Henry’s; had lunch there. We all went out to Uncle Fred’s to help with hay had supper. Mr. Rettinghouse is pretty bad.

Jonny Roscow rode along to Red Bud with us. Rosalia & Bertille & Mamie went to the ball game this afternoon in Hecker, this time they lost for the first time so far, playing with Belleville, 2 to 7 & little team played Evansville small team & got white washed 5 to 0. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up from here. They went to the birthday of Mrs. Mike Armstutz; they also had an invitation to Rapps fish fry Ivone’s birthday. The Singerfest of St. Louis had there pinic [sic] at Millstadt today. Miss Hilda Wilhelm & Len Gartz where married at Red Bud at 4 o clock, in the Evangical [sic] church there. Marianna Fritsche was to be flower girl but she wouldn’t do it after they got there; the dance is 4 miles from Darmstadt in Smith Hall.

Papa & Rosalia hauled 2 loads of wheat yesterday, one to Waterloo got 65¢ & to Red Bud 66¢. We went to Mrs. Frank Metzgers sale bought 60¢, Leona got washing machine 10¢. George Wiegand 37 & Alma Koerber 30 are getting married at 1:30 in Smithon [sic] parsonage, Ralph Weigand & Adelia Kooerber are best, the wedding dinner will be held at Louis Koerber’s. Mr. Alois Rheinhardt St. of Paderborn, is being buried this morn, Clifford called in awhile this evening. We went over to Steve Renneckers. Melvin Wagner is 4 yrs. old today. Awful hot.
