Raining all day & nite. Cleaned chicken house. Baked cookies. Pap went up town got papers; seen in there that Ed. Brand had wrote a letter to U. Heyl’s, telling them that last Fri. nite, fire destroyed the United paper Stock Co. were he works, but are going to rebuilt again; was quite a big loss. The plans for the new school building in Waterloo is now ready to go to work will cost building & lots & all $150,000. Farm Adv. Hughes to going to leave Waterloo & taken position in Cook CO; by the first of year; Clarence Olendorph had there baby christened last Sun. Charles William – sponsors Mr. & Mrs. William Minnemean. There will be an India Missionary coming to Evangical [sic] church, will speak & also show pictures. Literary Meeting at School house tonite; speaking old age pension. Mr. Ulrich of Smithton formerly the banker was stricken with apolexcy [sic] taken to hospital were there he died.

Friday, Nov. 10, 1933

Pop & Rosalia went out to Aunt Mary’s, got barrel & kettles butchering tomorrow. Berti got the mail, Former Farm Advisor, Paul Ewald died. Mrs. Ganley is pretty bad sick.

Friday, Aug. 11, 1933

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had lunch here, he helped put up stand for the pinic [sic] tomorrow. Mr. Hill is 77 yrs. old today. Mr. Wm. Ganley was here & paid Int; $33.50, still $1.77 still due. Papa went up to Maniers Park to the meeting, the farm advisor was the main speaker. Quite a few people attended the meeting.

Thursday, Sept. 15, 1932

We & Aunt Mary went to Belleville, & Rosalia got a red dress for $4.77 & hats 59¢. Mrs. Wm. Birkner was here a little while. Lavern Keorker was going around town selling apples $1.00 bu. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to the Rod & Gun Glub [sic – Club] House tonite. Mrs. Probst is celebrating her birthday there. Henry & family came up this evening, she took a basket tomatoes along home. The Farm Advisor Hughes is going to vaccinate his hogs for him Sat. morning & ours too. We sold 2 of our hams one 19¼ lbs. & 21 lbs. @ 15¢, Kolmier & Winkler of Waterloo got them. Papa got a glass of molasses this eve, at the factory, he hauled cane again this afternoon.
