Mrs. Staufenbiel went along to Red Bud mass. Yesterday was 25 Silver Wedding Ann. of Mr & Mrs Alb. Cleveland was announced over the radio, today is Alb. birthday. Fri nite Nic Mueths celebrated there 25 Silver Wedd. Ann. at Log Cabin by Red Bud invitation dance. We went to Uncle Freds for dinner & supper. They came up this eve. & Bert [Bertille] went along to church had benediction, tried the organ, it is not finished, were so many keys that never worked but is is wonderful now. Then we went to Paderborn to Totsch’s free dance, & what a crowd, Skaer Orch. The Wedd. anni. of Al. Clevelands went over the radio again this afternoon, german musci [sic], or polish hr; requested by Grover.

Sunday, May 30, 1937

Went to mass. Priest from St. Henry’s College had mass, high & solemn coummioun [sic – communion], graduating exercises, benediction & enroll of Scapulars; took till 9:30 when we got home. Henry & family & we all went to Leo & Rose’s this afternoon for supper. Leo’s sister was supposed to come for dinner, but they never come. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came Bert [Bertille] went along to church with her, graduation exercise, May Devotion & benediction.

Easter. Henry & family were up for dinner & supper, rabbit laid 12 eggs. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary came this afternoon, had supper; We went to Church, 7:30 High mass & benediction. Mr. Tom Kelley of Tiptown died Fri. morning, will be buried, tomorrow morning, he made his home with Ambrose Doyle; buried from there to Tiptown church & cemetery.

Rain all day, we cleaned little chix house this afternoon, a lady here wanted some eggs, & left a sample of metal polisher here. Went to Red Bud at 6 o clock, confession & Jubillee [sic] Indulgencies [sic], 4 visits & benediction; lot of people present. The twin Doyle’s were christened Sat. & named William Eugene & Wilma Jean, are still at the hospital yet, getting along fine.

Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1932

We fried 3 gal. bacon in today, shelled corn, baked bread & coffee cake. Philip Braun came this morning while we were eating breakfast, he came to tell us to come up there to church tomorrow evening they will have a new priest Rev. Adyt he come from Goddmill, there is going to be benidiction [sic] & then they go over to the school hall & have a reception, lunch, & a program & present the priest with a little Christmas gift. There we wants to meet all his parishoners [sic]. Rev. Hoff of Belleville is doing all this. Fr. Grootens is in Wisconsin now, he says. A man from E. St. Louis Stolze was here wanted to get eggs, but we had none to sell to him. Papa was at Barthel’s got the Chev. batteries.

Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1932

We went to Red Bud to church. High mass & benediction & station’s this morning. We have the doors & windows open just like spring. Rosalia sewed lettuce along by the house this afternoon. Papa went out in the woods, helped Henry, Emil & Bill was helping too. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up for church this evening. We played 4 hand pinochle, Uncle Fred & I won 3 games. They say at the free dance what Fr. Grootens gave there wasn’t many people there, there was a dance out at Papenbergs the same night, Parker’s went there.

Friday, March 6, 1931

Papa went up to Jac. Neffs to see if he would grub the well out down on the farm.  He is strawing potatoes today, 8 rows we got planted.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon.  They planted potatoes on their place across the street.  It started raining so they had to stop & go home.  Rosalia & Bertille went to church this morning, & this evening.  There wasn’t many people there this evening on account of the rainy weather, so he didn’t have stations, he just had the rosary & Benediction.
