Today the teacher’s have institute in Monroe Co. Papa went over to Steve Rennecker’s awhile last evening. Rosalia & Bertille went to church this morning. Mr. Feldmeier was here this afternoon and looked at our horses. But he didn’t want them. Papa went to Belleville this afternoon. I seen in the paper that Mrs. Alfred Stahl was ill & Miss Luella Pfeiffer is working there. Last Sat. Eichenseer’s has a new roof put on the barn. Jacob Helfrich did the work. Mr. & Mrs. George Wagner and family spent last Sunday at Forest Park in St. Louis. George Gambach will sell out and retire from merchandise business. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here this evening, they brought a watermelon along, we ate it, it tasted good. Bertille took 6 doz. eggs off and got .23¢ a dozen.

Papa went out to Henry’s this morning & got the team & then hauled posts. He brought the little colt along up to Hecker too. Afterwards he went over to Ed Meng’s a little while, then went back out to Henry’s again. Mr. John Armbruster & son Raymond were here this morning & looked at our leghorns chicks that we have for sale, but he heard that we just wanted to sell the pullets. So he said he would talk to his wife about it first and would let us know later. Yesterday was Uncle Pete & Aunt Lizzie Reheis wedding anniversary. They are married 36 years. Last Sunday the Hecker baseball team played up & with Floraville & Hecker won. Rosalia got the mail & took 2 doz. eggs to the store, got .18¢ a dozen. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Red Bud this afternoon a little while they stopped in when they went both ways. Mr. Jake Helfrich & another fellow from Belleville were here this evening. They each bought 2 spring chickens for .80¢ a piece. Papa went up to work at the school from about 4:30 to until 6 o’clock.
Mr. Hill called up this evening and said there was a little chick over there that didn’t belong to them & we should come over & see it, maybe it was ours. So Bertille went over & brought it along back, but it didn’t belong to us.

Today is Confirmation at Evansville & Red Bud. Ivo Buehler is getting confirmed in Red Bud this afternoon. Adam Eckert is his sponsor. Father Grooten stopped here this morning and asked Papa to help work on the new school. So Papa went up this morning & also this afternoon. Nick Schaefer, Jos. Schilling and Jack Helfrich are working there. We sold 26 lbs. springs .32¢ a lb. $8.32 the other day, last Monday. Rosalia took 2 doz. eggs off and got .17¢ a dozen. It rained a little this afternoon, but not very much. This evening Rosalia & Bertille went up town. There is dairy meeting at the school house & the Y.P.L. have meeting at their church. Henry came up for the milk meeting. He was down here a little while before he went. Ida Kammler was sitting on the porch & we went over a little while. Billy’s pussy’s are both gone and he can’t find them no more.

Henry was up this morning. Rosalia and Bertille washed, ironed, scrubbed the basement today. Papa worked up at the new school all day. In the evening Rosalia, Bertille, Aunt Mary went to church. Joe Grossheim’s have a new chevrolet sedan. There are a lot of trucks hauling brick for the new school from Red Bud up here. Those that hauled today were: Eichenseer’s, Roth’s, Schilling’s, Lorberg’s, Gambach, Pabst, Klein’s, Helfrich’s, Brauns. Our hens are hatching today.
