Papa got crushing done this morn. Osie Neff was telling him that Bruns are all sick but one, got tyhoid [sic – thyphoid] fever. Roy Gregson of Red Bud had his machine stolen. George Schilling is going to start in threshing Mon, if it don’t rain. There is a big street dance in Chester, Ill. tonite. Miss Frances Schilling is taking her habit today & in two years [words crossed out]; Odillo Eichenseer has to take Mr. & Mrs. Joe Schilling there going to leave today. Misses Martha Schilling & Helen Kectriz left yesterday also for Indiana to take in the performance. Fr. Aydt, is going today to, to be there for tomorrow, & then go to the Worlds Fair; George Wagner & family came over this evening. A lady got 5 doz. eggs 8½¢ & selling fruit jars & bonnets.

Papa got crushing done. Mr. Philip Wuertz & Ted where here & brought 4 pigs & took a stack of hay in even trade. Papa went out to Walter Wittenauer’s, Boll’s, Buehlers.

Papa got crushing done. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & rode along with us to Waterloo in the Whippet, went to Mrs. Schlingmans sale got all kinds of thrash; we brought our chev along back, it is all repaired now, only not the battery yet. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had supper here. It was a terrible wind this evening & a little rain. Mrs. Stauenfbiel was over to see if she could find a way to get to Red Bud to confirmation tomorrow; she found a way with Pour’s.

We had an awful wind storm last nite & rain all morn, & afternoon. Papa got crushing done, he got his hair cut. Mr. Laut is awful bad, they didn’t expect his to live till morning, he doesn’t speak any more. Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Lorberg’s have a 11 lb. baby boy born this morning, they now have 2 girls & boy. We killed a hen, boy! it sure was fat; baked mince pie, devil food & Spice cakes. It rained all afternoon; & boy! I mean it did rain & water.

Papa got crushing done. George Wagner came & borrowed a fork to help Clifford straw potatoes. Mr. Louis & Bill Reisfshender was here looked at our pigs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & we papa & Berdel [sic – Bertille?] went to Miss Lizzie Parkinson’s sales everything went cheap, it was a cash sale. It rained awful this evening, we didn’t get to Omer Schilling dance at Oak Groves Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where going to the Rod & Gun Club House, but didn’t get there, either, they posponed [sic] it till Sun. nite.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s got a hog. Mr. Caldwell of East St. Louis stopped & gave us a call. Henry came up with load corn, & also to get crushing done. There is so many working out on west road, they have 5 tractors, & mules, grading. We planted some tulips out from Emma Birkner. I seen in the Prairie Du Long news it says, a few from there attended a miscellanoius [sic] shower given at home of Mrs. Dueker, in East St. Louis for the approaching marriage of Miss Lela Dueker to Cyrus Halcomb of Freeburg.

Papa got crushing done this morn. Roy Stauenfbeil & Ed Meng was here. Papa went to town. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & papa went to a sale by Fults, didn’t buy anything, they took the hard road to Waterloo, Wartbug, Maeystown to Fults & coming home they went to Prairie Du Rocher, Ruma & Red Bud. Papa rode along with them.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up here & papa went along with them to Mrs. Louisa Soul’s sale, but didn’t buy anything brought a fair price. They stayed here for supper. Ike Napier come & paid for the hog 450 – $13.90. Ed Scheinder got 43½ doz. eggs for hatching, but only paid $2.20 so far still $2.15 to pay yet, but had no more money. Roy Stauenfbiel brought the crushing down this eve, it wasn’t working, this morning; something was out of order. There was awful large attendance at Saul’s sale. Mrs. Vic Eichenseer, Lucinda, Bud, & Angela & Clarence Wittenauer came this evening, we played pinochle six hand. 2 games.

Papa got crushing done this morn. Geo. Boll was here to sell soup meat or roasts. 10 & 13¢, we didn’t take any. It rained last nite, & cooler today. Bess Helmer is giving a birthday dance at Brezzy [sic] Hill tonite adm. 25¢, White Duck, & Miss Lucille McCarthy is giving one at Oak Grove 20¢ each. We all & George Wagners family went over to Renneckers played pinochle this evening, wine & cookies where served.
