Went to Red Bud mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came awhile after church. We went out to Henry’s, had dinner & supper. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came also in afternoon we played cards & seen the kids presents from Santa Claus, had lot of nice things. Mr. & Mrs. Orlet & Leo came this evening.
Friday, Dec. 25, 1936
Christmas Day. Went to 5 o clock mass; lasted till 7 o’clock had solemn High mass 3 priests; Church was crowded. It rained a little when we came out of church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Henry & family & Leo were all here for dinner & supper, had 2 ducks. Sure beautiful day, had the doors open all day, after dinner sat on the back porch on north side, so nice an warm. We played cards afternoon & evening. Rose went along with Leo to his folks tonite.

Went to mass, took Helfrichs along, pretty windy, & cold. Helfrichs lost a horse last week. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile, went home, we made apple pie. A fellow here from close to Belleville, looking for shoats for a neighbor who is sick. Leo & Isd. & Helfrich girls came, & Rose & Bert went along to Belleville to Lincoln, to register also to win the Nash to be given away Thurs. nite. The Thealtre [sic] was just crowded. Beautiful day.

Went to mass. Awful nice day, warm. Was at home all day. We heard Mildred Hepp birthday request by Erna Hepp yesterday on the radio. Leo & Rose went to Belleville. Alois Roth & Gertie were here this evening playing cards, we sure had a real pinochle game, Gertie had 800 kings & 300 pinochle at 1 time. Gertie & Bert partners against men; played out even games, 3 on each side; we played 6 games.

Went to mass. Pap took his budget envelope back he put in $5.00. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had breakfast with us, then went home. Leo came this afternoon had supper, they went to Belleville to St. Mary’s parish closing of the mission. Omer & Bert went out to Henry’s played cards. It is awful cold tonite.

Much colder today, we went to mass. The Y.P.L. have a play & dance at Kammler’s hall tonite. Welcome Home Town Visitor, it was real pretty; players were Julius & Marjorie Rausch, Roland, Lyle & Veronica Rausch, Harold Wagner, Lee Howery, Als. Eckert.

All Souls Day, went to 7 o’clock mass. Went to Belleville all day, dentist this afternoon. Raining all day. Wm. Ganley & Ambrose Doyle all had shooting matches yesterday.

Went to mass All Saint’s Day. Henry & family had dinner & supper here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had supper here, him Henry & pap went up to look around in woods. Some people have looked at heifers etc. Pautlers has free dance musci [sic] Rythm [sic] Kings.
Friday, Oct. 30, 1936
Beautiful day. Bill Fritsche look & fix our furnace. Pap went up in woods, got load corn fodder. Frank Kroll wanted to see him, about lots at cemetery, so he had to go out there. Henry Schaefer of Waterloo died, to be buried tomorrow, at Hecker cemetery. Fr. Aydt to have mass at Waterloo at 10′ o clock then out to cemetery, there is 3 funeral masses at Waterloo, 2 are Stackels, one being Hy. Emery’s father in law, & Schaefer. Joe Gregson & Lester bought 2 acres of land from Wil. Harbaugh, $800.00, going to operate & build a filling station, it is already staked of. We went to Belleville this afternoon, pap went to dentist again.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile after mass. There 38th wedding Anniv. The Hecker Catholic church pinic [sic] cleared $800. & Red Bud on ice cream social $300. all pretty good. We went to Pautlers to Al. Einwich birthday dance, Rythmn [sic] Kings Gents 25 ladies free, had pretty nice crowd. Alvis Roth had a collision, coming out of the Douglas road & didn’t stop, got knocked of machine a total wreck.
