We cut the wings of our chickens this morn, so they stay in. Sowed turnip seed today. There was a man round selling muskmellons [sic] & watermellons [sic] & from New Athens. Henry was here this afternoon, he got whey. Hy. Armstutz got the hayrake this afternoon. Walter Pour’s have a baby boy since last Thurs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening. Henry & family came up after the mule.

The weather looks awful bad this morn. Rosalia is supposed to go to the dentist, but didn’t on account it rained pretty much. Papa & Ed. Meng went to a sale John Fauss by St. Joe, papa bought a rake, & a few articles. This evening we went out to Uncle Fred’s & brought there victrola up here for them, & they came up to & got flour. It looks like rain, but it all passed over. Henry & the boy’s where up & got some whey.

Papa went to get crushing done. Today is Mrs. Cleveland’s birthday. We all went to Wm. Sharpe’s sale on the Ritzel farm east of Waterloo, but didn’t get nothing, good sale, it was supposed to start in the morning, we took our dinner along. It rain a little this evening. Mr. & Mrs. Rennecker, & Henry & family where here this eve. Henry went to milk meeting in the school hall.

Rosalia & Bertille went to Waterloo & Leona & kids, to the dentist. Leona is getting her’s fixed too now. Louis Rheischiner [?] & son Bill where here & looked at the horses. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here this afternoon & then went down to Adam Eckerts’ threshing oats. They came back this evening again. Eggs are 10¢.

We went to Red Bud. Henry & family where up for lunch this afternoon. It rained a little this evening. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up this morning then went home. Hecker big team played Milsthadt [sic- Millstadt] in Hecker grounds, & won 5 to 6. Hecker second team in Evansille [sic – Evansville] & lost 21 to 25.

Papa went up to see Fix but he wasn’t at home. He stopped in at Scheinder’s at Smithon [sic] & told him we have horses for sale. Clifford came over at noon. Papa rode the saddle horse out to Henry’s & brought the mule back. Bobby & Floyd got there pictures taken on it; & rode him around. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening a while, to see Mr. Gambach, they aren’t going to the funeral, because they have hay to make. Jos. Schilling finished threshing 520 bu. he got. George Schilling also started today.

We went to Belleville this afternoon to Miss Zimmlich sale, adminstrator [sic] sale, & everything cheap, we bought $2.50 worth stuff, 2 rockers, 3 chairs etc. & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary bought lots goods, chairs, tables etc. They came up this evening & brought some of ours along up, then we all went out to Chris Buehler’s Iren’s birthday 10 yrs. popcorn, beer & cake where served, Henry & Frank, Birkner family, & Papenbergs & us folks.

Henry was here for lunch, dinner & lunch, supper, he finished cutting wheat up here & took the binder along. Leona & the kids brought him up & they went home again this morn, she canned 31 qt. berries. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up awhile this evening. Fr. Grootens has a dance in the hall tonight. Papa built a little hog house, & they moved it with the horses, back to the straw shed. eggs are 9¢ today.

Henry & family came up, this afternoon, it cut wheat they where here for lunch. It started raining at 4:30 so they had to quit. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up.
