We have 10 hens hatching that is the last now. Tonite Harry Kammler’s have a dance, musci [sic] furnished by Ill. Roamers, & Bill Sensel has one barn, by Ripplemixer band from Valmeyer. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where there, it was pretty good crowd, but the floor was so rough. Papa went to Waterloo. Roman Schwartz was here & looked at the colts. We sure had a nice rain this afternoon, but it wasn’t enough.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s. Papa took the rake down to Bill Fritsche’s to get it fixed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here again this afternoon & evening. Frank Birkner’s family gave them a call this evening. Rosalia & Bertille went over a little while, had popcorn. There is a dance in the school hall tonite. Hy Armstutz was here, he went fishing this morning & this evening he took Hill’s up to Smithon [sic – Smithton]. A junk dealer was here & bought 2 hens 8½ lbs. for 11¢, eggs 9¢.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon. Papa & Vic Eichenseer went up to Kleber’s & got the binder & rake what they bought. Miss Helen Millman got married yesterday to [illegible] Schmissur.

Today is the Mosbacher & Neff wedding. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary are going to the dance, it is in Neff’s house, he couldn’t get the hall. Henry & Leona came & we went along to the dance with them, the house was packed, danced in 2 rooms, nearly all musiains [sic – musicians] played. Papa & Rosalia went to Belleville & took 24 doz. eggs & old hens & 20¾ lb. springs got 20¢ for 2½ lbs. over. The egg man was here & got 31 lbs. springers got 16¢ for 1½ lbs. over. Papa & Bertille went out to Henry’s this afternoon. Emil was there awhile too. Papa helped Henry work his ground.

Pentecost Mon, pinic [sic] at Red Bud. It started in raining this morn, so we planted tomato & cabbage plant out, have to water them every night. We washed & ironed; Papa went out on business trip this afternoon. Mr. Quathhammer & son where here & look at the colts. The egg man came he wanted to buy chickens, so he is coming back tomorrow morning again, to get them eggs are still 9¢.

A man was here this morning wanted sharpen sisccors [sic – scissors] or knifes, we didn’t get anything done. Papa went to Kleber’s sale by Floraville this afternoon. Edmund Eckert is going to be brought home today from the hospital at Belleville the was way we heard. He is pretty good again, he was home sick. Papa bought a rake Hay for 25¢ & Vic Eichenseer got a binder for 50¢ at the sale. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to spent the weekend in town. We had supper over by them. Henry was up this afternoon, he got crushing done. George Schilling was here to see papa but he wasn’t home. Lindenberg’s baby was found last Thurs. the 12th, in the woods, dead & a bullet wound on its head, it was nearly all decayed already one arm & leg was gone, a negro found the bundle in woods wrapped the same clothes as when taken from the house Mar. 1.

Christian Neff & Mary Mosbacher, Daughter of Ignatz are going to be married next Tues. in St. Louis & dance in Paderborn. Ben Schilling & her sister are to be best. Court was set off on Joe Braun’s case till next fall. Papa went to Freeburg after wire.

Papa set posts. Mr. Branderburger, was here to see colts, also Louis & Bill Reheisfiuder [sp?]. Rosalia took the eggs up town. This evening we went out to Ed. L. Parker’s barn dance, & a crowd. 25¢ adm. Josie Keller & girl friend where also there.
