Homecoming at Belleville. We went in this afternoon to church. Free dance at Oak Grove, & Double birthday at Pautler’s. Adm. gents 25 ladies free. Moonlight Orc. Jac. Reheis birthday today. Henry & family came up this evening; fixed hair & etc.

Thursday, May 30, 1935

Decoration Day also Ascension Holiday. We went to Waterloo to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here awhile. We went to Waterloo to School pinic [sic]; took our dinner along, seen the parade, lot of children. went out to the cemetery, seen Aunt Lizzies grave, flowers on it now, there & went to see Ed. Mavers by Foster Pond; came back for pinic [sic] again, free danceing [sic] all afternoon, Moonlight Orch. This evening at 7:30 they have donkey softball at Pautler Park, that is to be good playing ball on donkeys. Adm. 10 & 25¢; dance at 9 when the ball game is over, trained donkey 13 came from Colorado on at truck. We went to see Perry May awhile, & then went to the free dance given at Oak Grove by Nite Owl Orch. of Red Bud nice crowd. Free oranges & lemonade were given away at the pinic [sic].

Beautiful day. Mrs. Frances Euler died Thurs. evening 9 o clock at Red Bud hospital, will be buried Mon. morning from Waterloo to Hecker church & cemetery. She was 66 yrs. old. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came went along with us, this evening, we stopped at L. Sheas place & then went to Waterloo to see Mrs. Euler, about half hr. few more there, then we went to Pautler’s to Peiffer of Marystown birthday dance, ladies free. Moonlight Orchestra.

Saturday, April 27, 1935

Strawed potatoes, cleaned chicken house. Papa got the chev. again this afternoon, all fixed up, new oil rings, etc. greased & labor, all $8.00. Omer Schilling is giving a birthday dinner at Paulters Hall to nite, gents 25 ladies free; Moonlight Orch.; playing; we went in, & Boy! was it a crowd. Papa went to Waterloo this afternoon & got his hog check cashed $33.58. Sure some dust, today, it is terrible in Kansas dust storms.

Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1934

We washed, nice day. Henry came, put the hay away this afternoon. Rag man here, we sold him ours 25¢. Henry & Leona brought the kids here we went along with them to Charlie Schilling’s birthday dance at Pautler’s 21 yr. Moonlight Orc. Gents 25¢. Osie Mazentbacher & Sly. Hellmer have a little boy – girl last week 2 day apart.

Rose & Bert went to church, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had dinner here. Gus Edler was here on business to see Uncle Fred. The Ladies Aid have pinic [sic] & cold supper; & childrens program, we went awhile, in the evening, The Night Hawks of Waterloo, Norman Heyl, etc. played stopped at 8 o’clock, they had to play for free dance in Foster Pond; we walked up to Maniers watched the dance there tonite, a pretty good crowd, Moonlight Orch. playing. John Griffin & Mamie Eichenseer, where the lucky girl winners at pinic [sic]. They had a nice crowd at the pinic [sic], The corespondents [sic] of New Democrat, are having there pinic [sic] at Daab’s Club House at Smithon [sic] today.
