Ironed, patched, finished “Goose track” quilt, to give to Red Bud parish, just the top. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up him & papa went to Red Bud, & Waterloo on business. We are making patches for a cushion. Wrote Alice Brand of 1509½ Bellevine Ave. California, Los Angeles, this morning on business regarding the right of piece land, from hard road, joining our ground; if she wants to sell it. Mertz paying 18½ for eggs.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had dinner here, him & papa went to Waterloo this morning on business; this afternoon Uncle went home, got wheat, took it to Red Bud; Eggs here are 18 & 20½¢. Rob. Laut took a chance on a quilt to be raffled at the Euchre on Mar. 5, Catholic. Mr. & Mrs. Walter Wittenauer have a baby girl Alice. Fire man euchre Sun.

Papa went out to Henry’s, help Mr. Fournie of Ziebold’s place, got the oats, he got 64 bus @ 60¢. Ivo Rapp was here & asked to for oats. Papa went to Mrs. Gambach & bought her plow for Henry $2.50; it is in Wm. Gregson’s stable. Henry came furrowed the land. We went to Belleville this afternoon. This evening went out to Henry’s, played cards. Eggs are 22¢ here, we got 17¢ chickens at Belleville.
Tuesday, Feb. 19, 1935
Baked cookies, sewed aprons & curtains. Bernice Wagner got 1 doz. eggs. Mr. George Purtle & wife came looked at our incubator of 100 egg, bought it $3.00, went to E. St. Louis, take it along when they came back. Ray Vogt land agent of Waterloo, stopped in on a short call this afternoon. We went out to Uncle Freds this eve; about 7 o clock, it started in raining & got so terrible windy, we went home, a limb was blown down in front of J. Kreher Sr., across the road, had to clear it away, before we could pass there, but it turned out to be a nice evening, moon & stars came out, & beautiful.

We washed, ironed, beautiful day, little windy. Eggs are 25¢. Papa went to Waterloo. Rob. Laut got sack hay for his rabbits, one a week. Rosalia sewed aprons. Angela Eichenseer’s birthdy. We patched.

Eggs are now 26¢ again. Uncle Fred walked up, & got a few things from the store. A guy here wanted to sell toilet articles; One here yesterday selling vanilla.

We washed, ironed, pretty nice day. Art & Mr. Schaefer came with two wagons to get the hay this morning. Mrs. Wm Klotz died, sometime this morning, the bell rung. Olive Laut is helpmate. We cleaned chicken house, sent a birthday greeting to Josie Keller, it is Wed. the 13. Eggs surely took a drop today, 30¢ this morn & 25 this afternoon at the stores here, sure is awful, 5¢ at one time.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up & went home again while it was froze. We went to Belleville this afternoon. Rosalia went to see Mrs. Rennecker; to get quilt pattern of “Goose Trot.” Mike Keoinstein is in Belleville Hospital. There is a free picture show at Pautler Hall, in Waterloo given by Grosse. Mr. & Mrs. Lester Gregson & family where here this evening, we payed 5 pinochle, the boys went to sleep. It is raining out. Eggs are 30¢ now.

The hog checks are being paid out at Waterloo today. Papa sewed clover seed this morn. Rose is making dresses, Berti baked cookies, surely is nice, but it is turning colder tonite. Bernice Wagner came, over & got 1 doz. eggs @ 26¢.
Monday, Feb. 4, 1935
We washed, ironed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went home after breakfast, froze a little. Mrs. Wil Klotz is very ill; eggs today is 26¢. Aunt Mary sent a dress pattern along with Louis Birkner for us; left it at Mertz’s Store. We went to Renneckers this evening, played pinochle, even games. Chas Hill & family left for Chicago for a 3 mo. job; with truck & car. Ed. Mengs butchered today.
