Cooking catsup, canned tomatoes. made preserve baked cookies etc. Pap went to see Hy Henze. H. Brinkmann & wife were here looked at pigs yesterday eve. bought 4 – $7. a piece going to get them this eve. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up this afternoon. Berneice came got 4 doz. eggs take them along to Floraville for Mehrmann. Orvile Schmidt is working in Mertz store now; Hy. cooking sorghum. Oliver & Wilma Birkner had there tonsils taking out at Belleville.

Emil’s birthday. Berti baked cookies. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he went up in the woods & got load rack; took milk & butter along home. Fredrick Fritsche came asked if he could go hunting here. Papa told him it was alright. Uncle brought the Belleville paper along up for us to read, they get it daily now. Mrs. Arthur Hepp was in the hospital, tonsils taken out. Steve Neff’s have a baby born at hospital. Willie Krehers have also a baby girl born Dec. 5. Webers Quarry is to be moved from Harbaughs farm to Rittmeyer’s, Weber has taken the Claus house in town, to pieces & will erect it out at the Quarry. Eichenseers have a new Chev. which costs $791.00 complete, trunk etc.

Today is Bobby’s birthday, he is 5 yrs old. We all went out, this evening. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were there too, but that is all. Cake & lemonade were served. Papa is fixing chicken pens for our little chicks, they are hatching today. Ted Eichenseer’s kid & Pours, Reagans, kids were here & asked for permission to play ball on that piece of ground here by the house. Papa told them no they couldn’t. Henry was in Waterloo this afternoon to the doctor, he told him he should go home & go to bed, he had tonsilitis.

Today is John Limbach’s sale. Papa went out to Henry’s and got a load of wheat, then he went to Waterloo to the mill & then went out to John Limbach’s sale. We get our daily paper in the evening from now on with the buss. Instead of morning mail carrier. Papa never bought nothing at the sale, everything high priced. Albert Rittemyer was here this afternoon trying to sell brushes of all kinds. But we didn’t buy any. Margaret McDermott call up & told us that our cousin Mary May, Martin May’s oldest daughter died & will be buried tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock at the Tipton church. She was to get operated on appendicitis and tonsils, they gave her ether & she never came too anymore. They say she had a sweetheart Joe McArthy. She is 18 years old. Wheat is .78¢ this morning.
