Went out to Henry’s got load wheat took it to Waterloo 97¢. brought some along home for crushing tomorrow; we also took our sewing machine along it, getting it repaired doesn’t sew. Electric bill was 8 hrs. this mon; little more light then last mon. Pap went to see John this afternoon. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped in went to Red Bud to Buehler’s, & junk pile gathering some old junk. Dr. Hatz of Waterloo dentist, is building a new house Waterloo Park sub division contract by Osterhage Builders. Siedle building gone for Teonges west of railroad tracks, lot of houses going up again in Waterloo. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came down awhile this evening; lights went out for awhile.

Made catsup, canned 3 qts. tomatoes. Went to Red Bud to Beckers Mill got check cashed, got new fan belt put in Chev. $1. went to Paul Crook looking for pigs, but were just delivered this morn. went through Tipton to Pluegers, but he moved last Sat; doesn’t live there any more, moved 10 miles away; went to Waterloo to church. Henry & boys were up this afternoon got wagon; last nite they were at Waterloo big W.L.S. Show at Pautlers Hall; I had forgotten all about it. Send bu. peaches small ones with Henry; pap picked 2 bu. little more. got in mushmellons & 1 watermellon [sic]. Hugo Probst is building new house on his lot, tore the old one away; also J. Kreher’s, Siedle is building that, contract job; but Probst just day labor. J. Reheis, Klein etc. We went over to Geo. Wagners awhile. Mary & Anita were out to. Clif Stahleber had a accident with his motorcycle at Pautlers, back wheel locked through [sic – threw] him quite a distance; hurt pretty bad.

It is in the Waterloo paper that infant son of Mr. John Eshmann Jr. nee Schaefer died on May 19 aged 2 mos. 13 das. Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hoffman nee Bozzay have a little baby girl born May 16 Wed; at there home near Tiptown. Alias Siedle have a girl born last Fri. 18 May. Twenty years ago eggs were quoted at 17½¢, wheat 90¢ & corn 82¢. Miss Ruth Collier who is attending school in St. Louis spent the weekend with her parents in Waterloo, Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Collier. Ed. Wittenauer purchased the home place were he lives from the late Margaret Wittenauer estate heirs, for $3600.00. Henry Acker purchased the old Acker farm last week & is now liming it. Hecker baseball team won last Sun at Floraville 11 to 4 next Sun play New Athens here. Elmer Kammler & local barber went to Hoyleton Ill. to cut the orphan children’s hair. The quilt that was raffled at the childrens program, Thurs. nite was won by Cecelia Pour; store clerk; at Eichenseers. We went to Donahue’s free dance, musci [sic] by Blossom City boys; Henry had dinner & lunch here, he cut his hay & weeds here.
