Penetcost [sic]. Went to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Leo & family & Bill [Klein] came this afternoon had supper. Totsch’s have fish fry & dance tonite. Hecker Public School kids had there pinic [sic] at Fort Chartres today, rained a little this afternoon.

Went to funeral of Ignatz Klein 77 yrs. nephews, pallbearers. Emil was over while this afternoon. Wittenauers cut hay today. Rain this eve.

Went out to Henry’s got wheat; pap went in woods got polls for beans in garden. Nice cool this afternoon, baked cookies, cake, cleaned cut lawn etc. Bill [Klein] came got Bert [Bertille] went to there place, see Mr. [Ignatz] Klein.

Went to Orlets, sprayed potatoes had lunch. Bert [Bertille] had to go to Totschs to get arsenate [? – unclear] of lead 4 – 80 [cents]. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up. planted corn today. The Ladies Aid got euchre party again tonight – in church hall. Awful warm & no rain, a shower sure would be good. German band played a no. [number] for Henry birthday & Wedd. Ann. last nite at 7:30 & today for Mrs. Hy Birkner & Leo Cortner. Bill [Klein] came this eve. said his Uncle Ignatz died at about 3:30 this afternoon, got out of bed went outside & had stroke.

Washed, ironed, patched. Eggs 12 [cents]. Cleaned chicken house. Mauff was here. Bill [Klein] brought us strawberries yesterday & Boy! are they good.

Went to Red Bud. Irene Buehler came along back, she went to Ed Parkers, Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary, awhile. We went to Orlets for dinner & supper. Leo’s dad was also there. Isd. & girlfriend Phyllis came to take him along home. Bill [Klein] came to Orlets to. We planted sweet potatoe [sic] plants, out up there.

Ascension Day Holiday! Went to 6 o’clock mass. We didn’t go to confirmation at 10: 30 this morn. Bill [Klein] came, & we all went to St. Louis to J. [Josie] Kellers this afternoon left here at 1:30, got there at 3 oclock; she was ironing, we had supper there, left over there at 6 o’clock, got home 7:15. rained little this eve. thundered. Buettner is being buried this afternoon, private.

Went to mass. Had solemn communion, 10 children. Bert [Bertille] got her haircut. Leo & family came this afternoon, also Bill [Klein] all had supper here, we took pictures. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came for free dance at Kammler’s tonite, musci [sic] by Happy Ramblers 2 – had large crowd. Totsch’s also had fish fry & free dance.

Rained heavy last nite again. Bert [Bertille] put up curtains, cleaned, baked pie, cut lawn etc. Nice day, cool. The players of St. Engelbert’s parish of St. Louis are having a play at Red Bud in honor of parish of Red Bud having a supper for them, chicken for 25 more or less players. Bill [Klein] & Bert [Bertille] went to see “Red Bud on Broadway.” Turn to the Rigut [? – unclear] they called it in St. Louis, when they gave it over there sure was good Fr. Stitz director of play. Benny Weber sang 2 songs, accompanied by Hahn at piano & Schmidts Orc. & Cowell play accordion between act 4 act play, brought there scenery along sure beautiful.
