Rained heavy last nite. Josie Keller came & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary for dinner & supper, played cards. Leo & Rose went to Paderborn to see Fr. Teonnies. Beautiful day.

Saturday, Dec. 26, 1936

Cleaned. Rained a little, warm & cloudy. We got a electric lamp from J. Keller for Christmas bucket style. We got an invitation for Is. Helfrichs birthday dance at Floraville at Kern’s tonite, also is V. Cortner’s. Advent is over, dances start again, Oak Grove has one, give $1. for attendance price every hr. tonite. Pautler’s has double birthday dance tomorrow nite all free. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here for dinner, he went to Waterloo & to Red Bud this afternoon. Played cards.

Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1936

We washed, cleaned basement, fried in meat etc. Bert got mailed Christmas cards from J. Keller, Fr. Stern, First National Bank at Waterloo. Berti got a punch for a 5 lb. box candy by Mertz paid .03. Name Dorthy. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped here, then went to the school children’s play in School Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 19, 1936

Pap got hair cut. We went to Waterloo to Schaeffer’s sale got a few articles, grindstone, table cook pot etc. Annie is working in St. Louis. Jos. Keller came out, was at Lizzie Boll’s all afternoon; came here to play cards tonite. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came & Henry’s family, had a six hand game. Beautiful nite. Leona got the coal oil stove at Schaeffers sale $4.00, four burner.

Thursday, Nov. 26, 1936

Snow this morn. & all day, colder; not a very nice day. The turkey dinner went pretty good sold 450 tickets & turkey was about all, had 50; sold everything in fancy work & bazzaar [sic]. We were quilting all day, had chicken dinner. Today is the weddings all over, at Tipton Eugene Fahey & Lucille McCarthey, Joe Lynle & Ethel May, & Fauter & Kahner, all in mass at 9:30; Fahey & May gave wedding dance at Donahue’s, very large crowd. Jack Ganley & Helen McCarthy best; Rose May & guy for her sister. Miss Josie Keller & Kuhn stopped awhile; were out for turkey supper. We went to Ralph Weigand’s & Luella Bruns wedding dance at Kammlers hall, nice crowd, but cold. A. Buchons’s furnished musci [sic], marched around the cake, & danced; Hy Brun’s & cousin best, sure received many presents; the bride all wore white with veils. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came to.

Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1936

Uncle Fred is 62 yrs. old today & Uncle Joe 53. Today Pap & Rose went out to Henry’s got load oats. We all went out to Uncle Freds, had dinner there, played cards, Jos Keller came out to, for dinner. They all went to Louis Armstutz’s sale at the molasses factory, Kaltwassers estate. Went out to Uncle Freds again, had supper. Buehler’s & Frank & Oscars Birkners family came also, played cards, etc. Beautiful day, getting colder.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1936

We butchered, pig 161 lbs. & Uncle Fred got it his from J. Henkel 234 lbs. Henry & family helped to. Josie Keller came for supper yet also, took sausage & ribs $1 & 2 doz. eggs along. Lizzie Boll went quilting at Wagners, came over here to see Josie first.

Saturday, Sept. 12, 1936

Pap got haircut. We went to Belleville got new hats. Brought Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary along, were over at Kellers since Tues.They had dinner here, took them home, had watermelon there, then we went to Waterloo, paid dentist Hotz $2. for Bertie tooth. Went to church. Joe Griffin & wife came awhile this evening. Radio isn’t so good, bad nite.

Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1936

Finished ironing, & patching. Chas. Helfrich was here on business. We went out to Uncle Freds tonite for supper, Miss Keller came, & took them along to St. Louis, left about 8:30; she is going to the dentist to have a Xray taken of her teeth, to see what is wrong with her tongue; it is comes from the teeth or what it is.

Sunday, Sept. 6, 1936

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile, Bert’s had to write a letter to J. Keller for her, she is going to come out Tues. & take them to St. Louis. Aunt Mary wants to got to a dentist over there. Waterloo got Home Coming today, nice day cool, parade at 1 o clock, we all went in, the parade wasn’t very much; not many floats. Dancing free this afternoon. Had an airplane out at Breezy Hill. 5 min ride, $1. Adult.
