Leona, Robert, Floyd, were here this morning.  Leona & Bertille went to church.  Rosalia & Bertille went up to Mamie Eichenseer’s this evening.  We played ball, hi spice, and then we walked down to Deuker’s and talked with Ethel & Mrs. Deuker(sp?).  Then we stopped and talked with Eliza Boll a little while.  There is a dance out at Blackburn’s this evening, but we didn’t have no invitation so we didn’t go.  There was a big crowd there.  They charge .25¢ for the men.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were there.  Papa, Rosalia were out at Henry’s this afternoon.

Tuesday, May 13, 1930

It looks cloudy this morning.  Rosalia & Bertille washed & hung it in the basement.  Bertille went to church.  Papa, Rosalia went out to Henry’s to get some corn.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon & from here they went to Waterloo & Red Bud & then came back here again.  They had Oscar Birkner’s baby, Erma, along & then they took it over to Frank Birkner’s wife and she took care of her till they went home.  Papa went up in the woods this afternoon.  Mamie Eichenseer came down a little while this evening.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here a little while too.  From here they went to Charles Hepp.  They had a barn dance, they were invited.  But we didn’t have no invitation so we didn’t go.  We planted flowers out this evening, what Aunt Mary brought along from Frieda Buehler.  There were all kinds.  Bertille was at church this morning.

Sunday, May 11, 1930

Today is Mother’s Day.  It is right nice at present.  Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary & Henry were all up for church this morning.  After church they all went home.  So we ate early dinner and went out for a trip.  We went to Waterloo then to Foster Pond as far as the hard road was finished, then turned around and went back again.  Then we went to the East St. Louis Boy Scout Camp, they call it Camp Vandeventer, but we couldn’t drive in their gates was locked.  Mr. Shrod told us to come back some time after June 22.  Then it would be opened to drive in.  So we drove back again, and then we went to the other camp they call that the Belleville camp and also Waterloo.  The name of it is Camp Wangelin.  There was people working there.  They have a big hall and all small tents out along the woods.  It sure was a dandy place to go.  Then we drove back to Waterloo again & then home.  We were going to stop at Henry’s but they weren’t at home.  In the evening Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary came up a little early and then we played ball on the lawn.  Afterwards Mamie Eichenseer came down until it was time to go to church.  Then we all went up to church.  After church, Mrs. Meuth, Joe, Barbara, Rosie & Mamie Meuth, came down and stayed until about 10:30.  Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary were here too.  Adolph Rittemeyer didn’t have his dance last nite on account of rain so he is going to have it tonight.

Thursday, May 1, 1930

Henry was up this morning.  Rosalia and Bertille washed, ironed, scrubbed the basement today.  Papa worked up at the new school all day.  In the evening Rosalia, Bertille, Aunt Mary went to church.  Joe Grossheim’s have a new chevrolet sedan.  There are a lot of trucks hauling brick for the new school from Red Bud up here.  Those that hauled today were:  Eichenseer’s, Roth’s, Schilling’s, Lorberg’s, Gambach, Pabst, Klein’s, Helfrich’s, Brauns.  Our hens are hatching today.

Sunday, April 27, 1930

Papa & Rosalia drove up to church to first mass, because it was raining.  Then second mass, Rosalia and Bertille drove up.  It rained mostly all day.  Mamie Eichenseer came down in the afternoon.  She ate lunch with us.

Friday, April 11, 1930

Papa, Rosalia went out to Henry’s this afternoon to get some setting eggs and some straw.  When they came back they went down to the Okaw bottom to get some shade trees.  We ate our first lettuce today.  There was telephone meeting last nite at Rheinecker.  Mrs. Rausch fell this morning and sprained her ankle and wrist the way we heard.  Bertille sold 5 dozen eggs, got .22¢.  Steve Rheinecker couldn’t get his machine started this morning to go to the Rock quarry so Vic Eichenseer had to take him down in the truck.  Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary came up.  Aunt Mary & Rosalia, Bertille went to church this evening.  We found 25 eggs.  We set 5 hens.  The days are sure beautiful but we ought to have rain.  There were 4 motorcycles went down and came back again tonight.

Thursday, April 10, 1930

Aunt Mary and Bertille went to the sewing circle at Mrs. Eckerts this afternoon for the last time.  Aunt Mary had supper at our house.  Uncle Fred came later in the evening to get her.  Rosalia & Bertille washed the dining room windows this morning and also the curtains.  Mamie Eichenseer came down to get Rosalia & Bertille to go up to Lena’s to make flowers tonite.  We have them all finished now.

Wednesday, April 2, 1930

Mr. George Heyl was here this morning.  He is accessor in the upper poll.  Bertille took 3 dozen eggs to the store, got .22¢ a dozen.  They were going to start to tear down the old school house today and get ready for the new one at St. Augustine’s parish.  The children now have school in the church until noon.  Mamie Eichenseer came down this afternoon and we made all kinds of paper flowers.  There was a man came here to get some money for a donation for the priests.  But we told him that our priest wanted to build a new school house now.  We found 25 eggs.

Tuesday, April 1, 1930

Bertille washed today.  She took 3 dozen eggs to the store, got .22¢ a dozen.  There was a lady around this morning taking orders for abstracts of all kinds and spices.  Mamie Eichenseer came down this evening and then Rosalia & Bertille went along with her up to Lena’s to make flowers.  We found 30 eggs.

Sunday, March 30, 1930

Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary were up for church this morning.  They went home after church & in the afternoon went to the cemetery.  Papa, Rosalia, Bertille went out in the woods, then went to the cemetery too, to get some flowers to plant out.  In the evening we went up to see Mamie Eichenseer.  Mamie and Angela went out to Mueths today.  We found 28 eggs.
