Fried down bacon. Went out to Henry’s butchering a big hog; had dinner. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary helped also. Cloudy, snow a little, not much. Henry & family went to Geodelles for supper, his birthday. Leo & Rose went to Jake’s.

Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1936

Henry & family, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, were all up, helped to butcher, had lunch & dinner, butchered the large sow. Started in snowing this afternoon, & rain tonite. Eggs 34¢ today.

Tuesday, December 1, 1936

We washed, ironed; took turnips out, cleaned chicken house, took screens of, real busy day. Uncle Adam is butchering today.

Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1936

Armistice Day. Pap went to Harvey Pleuger’s to get pig in trade with the mule yet; got letter from him yesterday $32.00 8 week old, 8 of them now. G. Wagner is butchering today, getting hog from J. Henkel. Patched & quilting; nice weather these days cold morning & nite, white frost. Uncle Fred brought Aunt Mary up & he went home making wood she helped us quilt this afternoon & nite. Uncle came up this eve.

Thursday, Nov. 5, 1936

Berti 22 yrs old. The tree man was here, pap went out in woods all day, hauled wood out for them. We fried down bacon & sausage, cleaned things from butchering. A Zanol products agent was here, we didn’t buy from him. Rose took chev. to garage to get it repaired this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family & Omer were here this evening; played cards.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1936

We butchered, pig 161 lbs. & Uncle Fred got it his from J. Henkel 234 lbs. Henry & family helped to. Josie Keller came for supper yet also, took sausage & ribs $1 & 2 doz. eggs along. Lizzie Boll went quilting at Wagners, came over here to see Josie first.

Thursday, Oct. 29, 1936

We went out to Henry’s butchering a big hog, but it was pretty warm. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary helped also. Went to Paderborn to euchre tonite, still didn’t win anything, played 12 games, dance after, musci [sic] by Skaers & Schoenborn; pretty good crowd. Ed & Carrie were at Henry’s yesterday morn. left for Alab. today taking Mrs. Kessler along back with them over the winter. Eggs .28¢.

Thursday, Oct. 22, 1936

Pap went up in the woods with the tree man, he brought some honey & we strained it got 3 glasses. Ed. Schineder looked at the horses. We went out to Henry’s he butchered; we brought some along; had beef soup dinner & liver. Cold today, & nite. Tipton has euchre tonite. We paid electric light bill $1.00 for 8 kilowatts hrs. Leo came & we all went out to Henry’s; played cards, pinochle, 6 games. won every one, had fresh sausage & cake. We took all the flowers out, pretty cold tonite.

Tuesday, March 17, 1936

St. Patricks Day. We went out to Henry butchering; 1 hog. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came a little while there, he went up & got rocks from the woods. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, went to Reheis wake awhile. Henry & family came, boys stayed here, & Bert & Rose went along to Waterloo to the show $80 was won by Parson’s a guy working on the sewer there, the show was nice “Yellow Dust,” & the hall was filled. Wm. Doyle got 1 bu. clover seed $4.80 – @8.

Saturday, March 7, 1936

Pap went out in the woods. Martin Doyle came & looked at our Clover seed, he is going to take it. Eggs 18¢ today. Geo. Wagner butchering today; got it from Joe Gregson. Berti went out first time awhile today, we sewed lettuce, side of house. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came Rose went along to church.
