Rose sewed jumpers. We went to Belleville this afternoon. Rose had her broken tooth looked after by dentist, he has to treat it, & if it hurts, has to have it pulled; come in again next Fri. We went to Steve Renneckers played pinochle broke even, except one game tie, Berti had 800 kings. Pretty cold.

Monday, Dec. 7, 1936

It is 12 above zero this morning, quite a change. We washed. Rose sewed. Pap took the chev. to Probst had him to look it over, it can stand zero he said. Henry & Leona went to Belleville left Billy [Willis] here, went in about 9:30 came back at 4 o’clock. Pap went to Bolstead bought sow & 5 pigs 4 weeks old for $17.00. Bertille went to Mertz’s store, looked for mail & she won the fruit cake, for 4¢ push the name Belle & that won the cake, some luck, it is 98¢ cake, looks good. We had no street lights for awhile this eve. alright now. Eggs 31¢ now.

Sunday, Dec. 6, 1936

Went to mass. Pap took his budget envelope back he put in $5.00. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had breakfast with us, then went home. Leo came this afternoon had supper, they went to Belleville to St. Mary’s parish closing of the mission. Omer & Bert went out to Henry’s played cards. It is awful cold tonite.

Saturday, Dec. 5, 1936

Uncle Fred brought Aunt Mary up she went along with us to Belleville to Dr. Wagner, pap paid him $71.50 & was allowed $15 for his teeth, the old crown. Raining all day nearly.

Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1936

Quilted, Ironed. Went to Belleville this afternoon. Pap went out to Henry’s about pigs, he sold some for $5 a piece. Hy Burdorf came brought our 5 heifers $210.00. & 3 lbs. beef roast. the firemen have euchre & dance at Kammlers Hall tonite; St.Patricks Church at Tipton have turkey supper & cards at Donahue’s; Waterloo Church has card party in Memorial Hall & also New Athens have card party. We went to the euchre & dance Schmidts played for dance. 8 games were played & little different this time, sit & play with whoever you want, 8 deals to a game; papa got 4 & Bert had 4 didn’t all come out, pap got pitcher milk; Uncle Fred got scarf & lemon squezzer [sic]. Leo got dish play lotto.

Thursday, Nov. 19, 1936

Pap hauled corn fodder, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came got there chickens bought 21 hens. 56 lbs. springs @ 12¢ & 6 lb. old hens @ 10¢. We are painting table & chairs in kitchen. Went to Belleville dentist this afternoon. Leo came we played cards.

Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1936

Assorted our chickens, Ironed. A lady here selling a polishing salmeter; we bought one. Pap & Bert went to Belleville dentist this afternoon; he got his lower set today, has to come back, about Thurs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this eve. played cards.

Thursday, Nov. 12, 1936

Pap got load corn fodder & Leona & Billy [Willis] came back with him, she helped quilt all day, the rest came up for supper & we quilted at nite, while the men went to Kammler’s hall to a poultry meeting given by L.D. Mertz, in regard to Wayne feeds. Pap & Bert went to Belleville, he got his upper set [teeth] today, & looked at Bert, getting along alright.

Saturday, Nov. 7, 1936

Pap got haircut. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped on there way home from Benedick’s sale at Red Bud, Hy. Frisckorn bought the place $600.00. We went to Belleville this afternoon. Berti got 2 teeth pulled $3.50 & xray was $2. Maniers have fish fry tonite. Hy Limbach came this evening. Ralph Etling came on business. Viola Einwich is celebrating her birthday at Floraville.

Monday, Nov. 2, 1936

All Souls Day, went to 7 o’clock mass. Went to Belleville all day, dentist this afternoon. Raining all day. Wm. Ganley & Ambrose Doyle all had shooting matches yesterday.
