Sunday, Sept. 20, 1936

Went to Red Bud. Oliver Bell, Lee Howery & Ray Wittenauer turned there car over at Parrots corner last nite. Bell’s car, Ray was still unconisous [sic] at Red Bud hospital this morning yet. We took in the Floraville Homecoming this evening. Alois Havey came & got his radio, brought one out Sat. eve. left it tell this afternoon, couldn’t make no trade. Crook was here looked at drill, some other guys looked at the team, fellows from Mondonaville. Beautiful day.

Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1936

Pap went out to help Henry again. We canned 8 qts. kraut. Had chicken dinner. Mondaville has church pinic [sic] today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & took Berti along, had chicken supper there, German Band played; in evening, we stayed till 8:30, had nice time. Pap brought Billy [Willis] along home at noon, & nearly bu. pickles; we canned 16 qts.& 1 gal. & gave some to the neighbors yet. Eggs 20ยข. Streets in town look pretty nice.

Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1933

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary 35 Wedding Anniversary. We requested “Mountain Musci [sic],” over the radio for them. Monadville [sic- Madonnaville] have church pinic [sic]. Miss Evelyn Roscow is visting [sic] folks & realatives [sic] of hers, around here now, she is going to leave soon for school in New Haven Conn. Papa & Bertille dug potatoes. Levi Gregson stopped to get drink water. Schaws the brewery man was around to see some people about taking up stock for the big building they want to put up at Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, we all went to Red Bud to Waterloo. Bert got a pair shoe $1.95 from Helbers at Red Bud. Henry was at Belleville, stopped in on his way home. George Wagner came over.

We shelled corn this morning, then Papa & Rosalia went to Ernst sale between Mondaville & Foster Pond, bought $1.20, sprinkle can, pans, table, rake & hoe. I seen in the paper Frank Geschwinder got 2500 baby chicks from W.C. Heyl Hatchery.
