Friday, Nov. 17, 1933

Henry & Leona went to Belleville, left Floyd & Billy here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon. Bertille got the mail. Robert Moffit, 78 yrs. age died in Hospital in East St. Louis  on Nov. 9; he made his home with his only son Ed living, was buried Sun. afternoon, Catholic Church, cemetery, Requeim Mass Mon. morning. Mr. Willie Doyle & Helen Reagan where married 8 o clock mass Tiptown Wed. morn. Nov. 15. Miss Agnes Doyle & Austin Reagan attendants, play party was held in evening. Miss Sally Braun daughter of Philip Braun, & Henry Huelsman of Fateyville, engagements announced to wed, was in Belleville paper, but they say it isn’t so. The wedding date has not been said. Miss Cecelia Pour clerk in Eichenseer’s Store, celebrated her 25 birthday Sat. night, dance in Club house; also in paper, who where all present.

Thursday, Nov. 16, 1933

We went to bed, got up at 9:30. Sleepy all day. Oh boy! Clara Gregson’s birthday. Went to bed 6 ‘o clock, tonite Ha! Ha!

Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1933

We fried in bacon & sausage. Lena Meng got 2 lbs. pork sausage, this morn. for dinner. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up he took turnips out. Louis Birkner’s birthday tomorrow hers. Mr. Jerome Cortner 23 & Lorena Neff 20 marriage license was in paper, being married at Paderborn this morning. Wedding dance Daabs Clubhouse, attendants Ester Cortner & Eugene Neff.

Sunday, Nov. 5, 1933

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had dinner & supper here. We played cards. Buehler’s family, Cleveland’s family, Henry & family came this eve, played solo & 6 hand pinochle, cake with 19 candles was served on Bertille 19 yr. old birthday. Lady bought 2 doz. eggs 25¢.

Monday, Oct. 30, 1933

We washed, Papa & Rose went out to Henry’s to get the heifer, what he got bought from Levi Ganley. Annie Reheis is 35 yrs. old. Joe Manier had a hallowen [sic] dance, Sat. night, cash prize where to be given to the best dress, but they say, there was none given out, not enough came in. We made some tomatoe [sic] chutney. Eggs 21¢ today.

Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1933

We washed, papa is fixing corn crib. Ralph Ettling was here last Sat., & papa was there Sun, he bought 3 heifers from him for $36.00. Ettling & his family are going to move to St. Louis, in 3 weeks; going to give his horses to Paul Neff to work, cows to Stoval & hogs to Mo. Rosalia & Bertille went to Mamies, then we all went to the school hall to a dairy show & speaking given by St. Louis Dairy, had Ed Parkers barn pictured. The hallways just crowded, people from Red Bud, Smithon [sic] & all over. Mr. Taylor, & Dr. McCullen where speakers; inspector of milk of health department. Kenneth Kemps birthday, & a bunch went out to celebrate with dance & beer.

Thursday, Sept. 28, 1933

Henry came up at 4:30 got the truck, took it home, loaded hogs, & came back again, took papa along, over to E. St. Louis stockyards, he got work from Hughes, to take them over on Suservind’s permit, government bought. It is raining, & awful dark all day. Clem Parker’s birthday is today 21 yrs old. Henry stayed for dinner. Bertille went over to Renneckers got quilt snowball sun flower pattern, we started the snowball, all little patches.

Wednesday, Sept. 27, 1933

It rained last nite again, every day so far, cloudy today again; Leona’s birthday 23 yrs old. We went out, took basket tomatoes along, those present were, Mr. & Mrs. Al Cleveland, Emil Brand, Gus Goedelle’s family & us, cake. They cooked molasses yesterday, no more there again, it comes in very slow. Mrs. Rennecker said, she was here awhile, we cut lawn, cleaned up stairs.

Saturday, Sept. 16, 1933

We went to Waterloo this evening, to see the talking picture show, “Horse Sense & “Benefactor” given free by Ins. Co. it was sure nice, from there we went to the Grand Opening “Dance”Donahue” Road house, free, except eats & drinks, it was also a Braun’s birthday; & crowd, just packed, Henry & Leona where there to. There musci [sic] was Kohler Orch. & at Brezzy Hill there where 4 celebrating birthday.

Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1933

We washed. Mr. & Mrs. Ted Eichenseer & Mamie went to visit relatives at Indiana & went to Worlds Fair at Chicago left Sat. morn. Juluis Rausch called & got the package what Horn had sent here. It rained this afternoon & evening, it was nice. Grover Cleveland birthday.
