Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s, took some tomatoes along, & got wheat & milk. We are cooking catsup & pear preserve. The hard road gang are up at Gus Keckritz’s now. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up. Chas. Jung brought the balance what he owed us. News from the Times, Louis Lenhardt sold his property to Hy. Eichelman Sr, who will now be residents of Waterloo, & Lenhardt bought P & H Lumber Co. house.

We called in corn this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary cut there. We cooked up tomatoes, for catsup & pulled pears. A man here wanted to sell natural gas, eggs 17¢ here. The nights are awful cool here later.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s & got a load of wheat; took it to Red Bud; got 78¢; then got a load here to feed. Rosalia & Bertille went out to Aunt Mary’s, fixed her dress, had lunch, brought pears & peaches along. Wm. Harbaugh’s have baby girl born last nite. Yvone Rapp was taken to Red Bud Hospital operated for appendix, from 11:15 to 12 o clock this morning. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came we all went to Red Bud, to the Drawing boxing & wrestling; quite a few names where called, Fred Reheis was, but he didn’t appear, that is the only one except Mrs. Frank McDermott from around here, that was called.

Aunt Mary took quite a few tomatoes along for catsup, we canned 1 qt. pint. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s, got load wheat, took 15 bus. to Red Bud morning got 80¢, & 15 bus. to Freeburg got 78¢.

We washed, ironed. Chas. Jung got old hens here 7¢ lb. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & we all went to Red Bud gymnasium to see the show given by the Ins. Co, “Horse Sense” “Benefactor,” between reals [sic] AucBuchuon’s Band or family furnished musci [sic], & the 2 kids tap dancing, it was nice, such crowd, standing just packed in back.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family where here for dinner, & supper; had chicken soup. Steve Rennecker’s wed. anniversary. Mamie & Clarence where down tonite. Maniers have a dance, Herzog Nite Owls. Miss Marie Krack died Thurs. & will be buried this afternoon, with mass tomorrow morning; she was 29 yrs. old, they have her at home upstairs. Mr. Rex Rapp & Miss Helen Braun where married yesterday; surprise, they weren’t published.

We went to Waterloo this evening, to see the talking picture show, “Horse Sense & “Benefactor” given free by Ins. Co. it was sure nice, from there we went to the Grand Opening “Dance”Donahue” Road house, free, except eats & drinks, it was also a Braun’s birthday; & crowd, just packed, Henry & Leona where there to. There musci [sic] was Kohler Orch. & at Brezzy Hill there where 4 celebrating birthday.

Papa shocked corn this morn. Wm. C. Voges & Ed Pabst where here, Pabst signed the wheat contract too, so papa signed. The log men where here, they where out at the woods & looked it all over.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up for chicken dinner, had lunch here; him & George helped papa after his pigs hogs. Olivia Laut has quilting today, neighbors are all present. There is case sleeping sickness in Belleville now, those people are quartined [sic] for 3 weeks, 10 more die.

The bridge boss is back again, going to start & finish the bridge now; they have the slab laid as far as Biffar’s already. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up here for lunch & supper, it rained heavy.
