Tuesday, Dec. 11, 1934

We washed, cleaned up from butchering; Rosalia took the boys & papa out, he had to help Uncle Adam’s butcher. She got them again this evening, she takes the boys & gets them every day from school. Mr. Oscar Birkner came to get Uncle Fred grinder, he is going to butcher 4 hogs tomorrow, one 500 lbs. Henry Meng was here ordered 2 hogs for Thurs. to butcher.

Monday, Dec. 10, 1934

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & Henry, helped butcher, Uncle Fred one & we one, ours 260 & Uncles 230 @ $6.25 had lunch, dinner, & supper. Rosalia took the boy’s to school. It is sure cold today. Leona was to get up today, & walk around.

Sunday, Dec. 9, 1934

We all went to Waterloo church, went to Geodell’s seen Leona, she is still the same yet. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon; she went to church this afternoon; they have thirteen hours devotion; today. Father Simon has the service. Mr. Gus Etler of St. Louis, came here on business. It is starting in to sleet, warm out. Mr. Etler gave the boys tablets & pencils, each penny. Snowing this evening.

Saturday, Dec. 8, 1934

Rosalia & Berti went to Red Bud; to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, this morning & afternoon; Uncle hauled 2 loads wheat, 96¢. The boys are staying here for a couple days.

Friday, Dec. 7, 1934

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came had dinner here, she attended church again today. Mrs. Braun of Red Bud delivered us our nose drops; for 55¢. Papa & Rosalia went to Belleville took 2 hogs, 490 lbs. to Strecks. $5.85 today. Rosalia & Berti went out to Henry’s, got overalls to patch; brought the boys along home with us.

Thursday, Dec. 6, 1934

Rosalia & Berti went out to Henry, cleaned, washed, ironed, patched. Leona is sick, is in Waterloo by Geodelle also Billy. Henry & the boys go back & forth over the nights, boys go to school. Feast of St. Nick today. There is retreat for the ladies at the St. Augustine’s Parish, Father Smion is here for the retreat. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, had dinner here, she attended church this morning & afternoon. Leona is in bed, all the time.

Wednesday, Dec. 5, 1934

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s got load corn. Rose & Berti went to the dentist this afternoon. Ralph Collier gave us a short call; we baked cookies, cleaned & washed curtains, windows. Mr. Herbert Hill’s have a baby daughter born last Fri. at the hospital in E. St. Louis, first; she was formerly Miss Pearl Fisher.

Tuesday, Dec. 4, 1934

Went to Waterloo, sold sausage etc. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s, measure wheat ground. Berti ironed. It is awful cold this morning, drained the Whip last night; put more glycerin in the Chev. today. Margaret Schaefer was surprised last Sat. night, being her birthday, was celebrated with a dance at Rod Gun House.

Monday, Dec. 3, 1934

Oh! Boy did it rain this morning. We went to Belleville, sold meat & eggs. Washed put hams up this afternoon. Seen the marriage license in the paper of Bernard Thien 24 & Mrs. Alera Eichenseer 25, Francis old wife, now divorced.

Sunday, Dec. 2, 1934

Went to church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stop awhile. We were home all day & night. Advent starts today. Mr. Kenneth Kemp & mother returned home last week, from a few days visit with there daughter & sister, Meredit at Texas, by motor.
