Sun shining nice this morn; awful wind last nite. Henry came brought potatoes. Emil was over. Bert [Bertille] baked pie etc. send peaches along with Henry home. Leo & family came this eve; might thresh oats tomorrow. Wittenauers finished threshing here today 5 20 1/2 bu. from 23 acres; we got 174 bus. finished about 6:30 threshing.

Friday, July 21, 1939

Leo & family were down last nite. Pap went out to Henry’s this morn. Hy. Feurer came stopped in going home from Waterloo. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up this afternoon. The threshing outfit is here on the place just a week this eve; & no threshing yet to wet. Pap was by Renneckers awhile. Canned 2 pts tomatoes.

Friday, Aug. 19, 1938

Went to Leo’s finished clover, Leo & pap took 2 hogs of Leo’s to Strecks got $8.75 weighed 405 lbs.; had dinner also threshers Stahl & man & Martin Karban, last nite supper also. Went in to Waterloo to Bersche sale, crowd & things brought fair price didn’t get a thing; couldn’t get near the sale cryer at all so many people. Harry Wittenauer putting up hay this afternoon. Henry was up to see Fr. Aydt

Tuesday, July 5, 1938

Leo got threshers about 5 ‘ o clock; had pitchers, & machine guys for supper. Henry & family helped & Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary had to help at Frank Birkner’s. Henry finished wheat & oats; got 791 bus. & 45 lbs. wheat, our share 263 [and two-thirds] bu. Nic Papenberg hauled 215 bus. ours to Waterloo mill got 60 – 65 & 62. docked some from 3 to 5 [cents] bu. Harry threshed here 684 bu. we got 228 bu. our share; Weigands got tractor & small outfit.

Friday, July 15, 1932

We all went out to Henry’s, they had the threshers there for oats, had a few for lunch & all for dinner got 590 bu. oats, from there they went to Ganley’s. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary couldn’t be there, – they had to go by Oscar’s & Ronnenberg’s & Franks. This evening they came up then we all went to Frank Degenhardt’s wake; he was 57 yrs. old the funeral will first be Mon. morning. Mr. Licht the insurance man was here this evening. There was a bunch went on a Excursion boat trip today, Hepp’s, Moeher’s, etc.

Thursday, July 14, 1932

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up & her & Rosalia took the car & went out to Henry’s help prepare for threshers, they had dinner there. Hy. Armstutz was here this morning & evening. The threshers came here about 2 oclock, gave them lunch. Henry threshed 59½ bus. wheat, we got 19 bus. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went threshing at Henry Birkner’s they had them for supper. Eggs are 10¢ wheat 45 at Freeburg. Mr. Joe Eichenseer, Anton’s brother was buried this morning at Ruma, he had blood poison had a scratch on his arm. Frank Degenhardt died this afternoon at 4:30 he had T.B.
