Pap got his haircut, Mr. Griffin was here got some oats for his chickens. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came went along with us to Belleville, Bert got dress & hat etc., went to church. Henry & Floyd were up this morn. Eggs 17¢. Tax receipts came, much higher again this yr. $247. Bill Geodelle moved today from Omer’s Emil Schilling place to Bretsch’s some were near Broad Hollow, they say Emil has his place for sale.

Rain this morn. Eggs 18¢. R. Wittenauer pd. Bert [Bertille] $5.00 for ball ground rent for 1937. The dance wasn’t so good.

Henry & Leona & Bert went to E. St. Louis, shopping, boys stayed here all day; had dinner. Eggs 19¢. Hecker Baseball Club had a dance last nite at Kammlers, played Schmidts. We also seen Uncle Ed [Crowe] today, at his feed store. Columbia traders were here.

Nice day but windy. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, had dinner & supper, he helped haul logs, him & pap got them out & Henry hauled over to Schilling’s. A man here selling lawn spray’s kills dandelions & all weeds, & helps grass to grow, $1.95 gal. Fr. Aydt is trying it out he said. Christ Buehler & Ivo plowed here today, finished the patch by the house here, he brought 8 doz. eggs along @ 20¢ for setting, we set 12 hens tonite, also with the 4 duck eggs, that I said week ago. All Rhode Island Reds. Aunt Mary helped Bert [Bertille] sew her dress today, a print one.

Rain again; nearly all nite; & cloudy & thunder this morn. We had chicken soup dinner. Eggs went down 19¢ now. S. Rennecker came, showed Bert [Bertille] the cabbage plants, he got from Maniers, 50 – 25¢; nice plants; Bert [Bertille] painted coal oil stove & pump.

Rained last nite. We went to Belleville took 2 hogs in the last ones, got $9.95 – 440 lbs; hogs coming down rapidly. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this eve. awhile. Vic Eichenseer fixed our pump, this eve. Pap went to Christ Buehler’s got 7 doz. eggs for setting 20¢ doz. Rhode Island Reds. Henry & Leo chixs all came today, all was alright this time.

Washed, so windy. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came on business. Ed. Parker got the stove lifter we brought along from Columbia; Eggs 20¢. Cloudy this afternoon.

Baked bread, coffee cake, then went to Leo’s butchering 2 hogs, also Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary helped to; had lunch, dinner supper, sugar cured meat, etc; got weighed U. Fred, 166, pap 162, Rose 162, Leo 149, A. Mary 176, Bert 118. Pap took eggs up got 20¢.

Pap fixed fence. Bert cut lawn, set 2 hens, each with 1 duck eggs so far; just got the 2 from our duck. Baked cookies cake; colder this eve. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he pumped water out of cellar. Mr. Wilbur Osterbage & Alice Glessner of Waterloo were married at Kankakee on Easter Mon. was secret till recently, going to live with his parents on Park Street, he works with his father in contracting business; she is Mike Glessners daughter. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came back again this eve. Leo & Rose came down to; brought eggs; want to butcher tomorrow.

Ironed curtains, patched. Roman Meng the acessor [sic] was here. Steve Rennecker brought the boards back what he got for papering. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came Bert went along to Waterloo to Wihelm’s sale, bought flower pots, got free can paint at Hamacher’s, advertising, also got chance to win 3 articles to be raffled tonite there. Received the benefit check – $102.03. Raining & colder this eve. Literary in Public School tonite; speaking by H. Hill, Sup of Schools of Belleville. Birkners Och. & Dor. & Osc. Lippert. Eggs .20¢ today. Wheat $1.39.
