Papa went to Red Bud this afternoon.  Rosalia went over to Meng’s this afternoon to try her dress on.  We planted out some corn this morning.  We had lettuce today for the 3rd times already.  Bertille sold 3 dozen eggs and got .22¢ a dozen.  Rosalia and Bertille went to church to confession this evening.  We found 22 eggs.

Tuesday, April 15, 1930

We washed today.  Leona, Robert, Floyd came up this morning to get the milk check.  Lena Meng stopped in here tonite and told Rosalia to come over tomorrow evening to try her dress on.  It is awful windy at present.  We found 31 eggs today.  Papa was up at Hecker at the election, it was town election.

Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary came up this morning.  Rosalia made a dress.  Aunt Mary and Rosalia went over to Meng’s to get a dress made for Rosalia.  Aunt Mary had dinner with us.  After dinner, Aunt Mary and Bertille went to the quilting at Mrs. Eckert’s.  They now have 16 quilts finished.  In the evening Uncle Fred came up and they both ate supper here.  We found 29 eggs today.  Bertille took 4 dozen eggs to the store, got .21¢ a dozen.

Wednesday, March 19, 1930

Papa, Rosalia, Bertille, Aunt Mary went to church this morning.  Emma Birkner has quilting this afternoon.  Mr. Winters was here this morning from St. Louis trying to sell medicine, Bon a tone and chick tonic for little chicks to cure sickness.  We found 23 eggs.  Mr. Meng asked Papa to take him to Smithton this afternoon.  So he did.  Mr. Meng gave him a dollar for taking him up there.  He wanted to look at some horses.  Leona, Bobby, Floyd were here this afternoon.  Bertille took 2 dozen eggs and got .21¢ a dozen.

Rosalia went to church this morning.  It is still raining yet.  We found 32 eggs.  Mr. Ed Meng got Henry’s cows today.  Henry traded 2 cows for 2 mules and Meng to give $30.00 to boot.  Steve Rheinecker helped Meng get them.  Grover Cleveland is taking his first lessons on how to play violin.  His daddy bought him one.

Bertille took 4 dozen eggs to Eichenseers & got .22¢ a dozen.  Ed Meng was here and looked at our building.  We found 19 eggs today.

Sunday, February 16, 1930

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here for dinner.  Rosalia & Bertille were invited to Angela Eichenseer’s, she had a birthday celebration.  Those present were: Miss Lena Meng & Clifford Sthalebher, Mrs. Joe Wachtel, Miss Mamie Eichenseer, Miss Elica(?) Pour, & Rosalia & Bertille & Angela.  The evening was spent in playing euchre and pinochle, refreshments were served at due time, popcorn and cake.  August Meuth’s have a little girl.  They named it Bertilla.  We all went up to church this afternoon to confession.  Tomorrow is thirteen hour devotion.  We found 13 eggs.

Rosalia & Bertille washed today.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here.  They brought their eggs up.  Mrs. Joe Schilling’s sister died, Katie Becker.  She is going to be buried Wednesday morning.  Mr. Henry Kreamer, the insurance agent, was here this afternoon.  We found 10 eggs today.  This evening, Lena Meng, Clifford, Ida Kammler & Billy, Hildagard, Angela, Wilma Reheis were here.  They evening was spent in playing cards & eating popcorn.  Henry was here too.

Papa, Rosalia, Bertille went out to Henry’s this morning to get some chicken feed.  Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary were here this afternoon.  Papa & Uncle Fred were fixing the chicken house.  There was to be a Euchre (game) in Augustine’s Parish tonight, but it was postponed until further notice, on account of bad roads.  Mr. Ed Meng was here.  Oliver Kuhns & Henry Braun came down this afternoon with a load of coal and got stuck.  Steve Rienbrecker pushed him out.

It rained all day & sleeted.  Rosalia & Bertille washed today & baked bread & coffee cake.  Papa paid Ed Meng for hauling lime(stone) $8.75.
