Leo & family came, had supper here. Leo & pap went to Ruma to sale & we went to Red Bud to Mrs. Gallaghers, also Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary went to sale; bought few articles, jugs. An oil drill is on Mrs. Al. Gregsons farm. but not started in to work yet. April fools today.

Friday, April 1, 1938

April Fools. Pap went in woods finished hauling wood. Bert [Bertille] cleaned bedroom, & hall etc. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, were at Belleville brought a curtain stretcher along for me [Bertille]. Transfer in Waterloo paper of Dav. & Joe. Donahue to Bill Donahue. Huber McDermott is selling the furniture etc. of Catherine McDermott at Log Cabin on 16 Apr.

Wednesday, April 1, 1936

All fools day. Papa went out to see Uncle Adam, still the same. Bert Thompson stopped in, he said we could get a setting duck eggs 35¢ as soon as they get them takes 13 eggs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came Berti went along to Belleville; raining all nite & day; papa went out to Emil’s to helped him burn hedge this afternoon, Al. Cleveland also helped him. Henry has a little cold since yesterday morn; mare colt, black, is allright. Reports is out now to be true that Joe Schilling has bought Elmer Kammler’s house here, & Elmer is to build on Werner’s lot by the blacksmith shop, as soon as Seidle has finished Eichenseers, is going to start his right across the street. Eggs are up 1¢ again now. 16¢.

Monday, April 1, 1935

All Fools Day. We washed, was cloudy, we hung it in the basement, sprayed fruit trees. Paid Int. to F.B. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, he went to Waterloo to get oil changed in his Chev; she stayed here, cut Berti striped dress out. Papa set posts this afternoon for his shut, he is making. Eggs are 19¢. Fred Voges of Lords Corner died will be buried Wed. tomorrow afternoon.
