It is so nice and warm that we had the front doors open today. We found 17 eggs. We had company today. Mr. Kirsch was here and brought us a book of Starks Nurseries. A man from Baldwin was here and wanted to sell paint. Papa took some of our summer sausage over to Reinhenckers to smoke it for us. Uncle Matt was in town today. Mr. Rheinecker planted some sprouts trees in front of his house. Bertille baked cookies. Rosalia & Bertille washed & ironed today.

Today we have church all day. We all went up to church this morning, our hour is between 11:30 & 12 o’clock. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up this morning. Henry and family were for dinner today. After they went home, Rosalia & Bertille went up to church. We took 4 doz. eggs to Eichenseer’s, got .30¢ a dozen. Then we went up to Braun’s, had a little argument with him. We found 19 eggs today. Papa, Rosalia, & Bertille went up to church this evening.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here for dinner. Rosalia & Bertille were invited to Angela Eichenseer’s, she had a birthday celebration. Those present were: Miss Lena Meng & Clifford Sthalebher, Mrs. Joe Wachtel, Miss Mamie Eichenseer, Miss Elica(?) Pour, & Rosalia & Bertille & Angela. The evening was spent in playing euchre and pinochle, refreshments were served at due time, popcorn and cake. August Meuth’s have a little girl. They named it Bertilla. We all went up to church this afternoon to confession. Tomorrow is thirteen hour devotion. We found 13 eggs.

Henry was here for dinner today. He came up with the wagon and brought a telephone pole along. He said the roads were awful bad. Papa put our telephone box in today. We found 19 eggs today. Rosalia was up town this afternoon to Braun’s and ordered some chick feed. She told them to bring it down right away, but they ain’t here yet, so maybe we will have to get it somewhere else. Frank Birkner was stuck with his machine right in front of his shed this evening. He couldn’t get in so I guess he left it stand in front of his house. Uncle Adam is on the sick list at present. Last week Emil was in bed and this week Uncle Adam ain’t feeling well.

Bertille got a Valentine but there is no name on it. Ha! Ha! Who cares. It is snowing something awful. Papa & Rosalia went to Belleville this morning to the place where we got our little chicks from, to see what is the matter with our chicks, we have lost quite a few since last Thursday (a week). Last Tuesday, Feb. 11, Andy Hellmer & Stella Dugan were married in Waterloo by Father Eschman. Mr. Clyde Crowe was best man and Eugenia Hellmer was bridesmaid. They are going to live in Waterloo. Miss Agnes Bussen’s licenses are in the paper too. She is going to get married to a fellow from Columbia. Miss Mildred Wild is assistant in Dr. J. P. McOmellaur’s office. Papa was down at the central office this afternoon to call over to New Athens Lumber Co.. They are going to decorate and fix the St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Waterloo. It is to be finished by April 1. The lumber man from New Athens brought some lumber over this evening. It (the road) was too soft, he couldn’t drive in, so he threw it on the ground in our lane and Papa & Rosalia had to carry it in the shed. It kind a quit snowing right now, but we will have lots more yet. We are to have 23 snow this winter, we had 14 snows already. We found 12 eggs today.

Bertille took the eggs to Eichenseer’s this morning. She had 2 dozen and got .34¢ a dozen from them. We sent a letter to New Athens Lumber Co. to pay for the lumber used for the chicken house. The check amounted to $187.96. Hurray tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Rosalia took eggs to Braun’s this afternoon. She got .34¢ a dozen. She had 2 dozen too. We found 15 eggs today. The roads are awful muddy now. It took 4 horses to pull Pabst truck up Kemps hill this morning. He said the worst place was by Blackburn’s lane. Papa & Rosalia put concrete in the chicken house (some of it) this afternoon.

Today is Lincoln’s Birthday & also Roy Stavenbiel. It rain a little here this morning but after awhile the sun came out nice. Ed L. Parker was here this morning, looked over our little chicks. Papa was up town this morning. Bertille patched this morning. Bertille went up to Mamie Eichenseer’s to help quilt. We found 16 eggs. Clifford left his over shoes here last night and he came tonight to get them. Rosalia got a Valentine. Ha! Ha! She don’t know where it came from. There was no name on it. Elmer Retihinghouse was visited with a Stork on Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday. It is a little boy and also Willie Weig’s have a little son.

Rosalia & Bertille washed today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here. They brought their eggs up. Mrs. Joe Schilling’s sister died, Katie Becker. She is going to be buried Wednesday morning. Mr. Henry Kreamer, the insurance agent, was here this afternoon. We found 10 eggs today. This evening, Lena Meng, Clifford, Ida Kammler & Billy, Hildagard, Angela, Wilma Reheis were here. They evening was spent in playing cards & eating popcorn. Henry was here too.

Papa & Rosalia went by the way of Red Bud to Waterloo and from there they went to go see Pete Weltzbacher, he has a telephone box for sale. They bought the phone for $5.00. We found 10 eggs. Rosalia took 2 dozen to Eichenseer’s this afternoon. She got .34¢ a dozen. There was a lady around selling flower stands. She asked .70¢ a piece for them. We didn’t take any but Mrs. Rheinecker bought one. Edward & Paul Neff were here this evening.

Henry was up here for church this morning with the whippet. He rode home with Joseph Schillings. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here all day. They had dinner and supper with us. Aunt Mary & Rosalia & Bertille went to see Liza Boll in in the afternoon. In the evening we all went to the moving picture show in the church basement. The name was Square Shoulders. Admission .25¢ We found 11 eggs again today.
