Today Aunt Lizzie got buried, she had gray coffin & dress, it was an awful large funeral, Querheim Undertaker, went to church at 10 ‘o clock, had blessing & sermon, organ & choir, ringing bells just like other ones only no mass, priest went to the Catholic Cemetery & said prayers. Dudenhoeffers where all out, that is Frank’s, Sig, Ludwigs’ & Adams, & others from St. Louis; people from all over. We came home by Red Bud, can’t hardly travel the roads now they are jetting the fills & makes it all mud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here for dinner. Aunt Lizzie was buried in a vault & looked natural.

Friday, July 28, 1933

Papa & Rosalia went back to Reheis again, & Uncle Fred to, Aunt Mary stayed last nite; Bertille came along home, helped clean up to. We all went out to Reheis this evening & stayed all night, had supper & breakfast & the people that came, it was such a crowd in & out, we took our clothes along ready for funeral.

Thursday, July 27, 1933

Papa went out with the Doctor to see Aunt Lizzie this morn. Aunt Mary & Uncle Fred when out this afternoon. They oiled the streets again this Morning. Aunt Lizzie she was 58 yrs. 3 mo. 19 days died at 10 mins, after 12 today, they didn’t have no priest, Aunt Mary got to late, also Jac, got to later. Mr. Rittmeyer was here selling brushes. Mrs. Rennecker came over. Henry went over to Reheis this evening; but they didn’t have her home yet, not till tomorrow.

We all went to sale by Waterloo today but we did not get anything. Irene Neff got married today. Aunt Melissa is alful [sic] bad sick the doctor gave up hopes.
