Sunday, Oct. 26, 1930

Today is shooting matches all over again, Ambrose Doyle, Philip Meuth, George Rickert.  Henry & family were all here for dinner today.  Little after dinner they went home.  In the evening Henry & Leona brought Bobby & Floyd here to stay with us all night, while they went to New Athens to play music.

Sunday, Oct. 19, 1930

We had our first snow this morning for this year.  Today is shooting matches all over, George Boll’s, Martin Doyl’s, Mike McCarthy’s.  There is also a picnic in Smithton fish fry and dance tonight.  Henry and family were all here for dinner today.  We had roast beef.  Tonight Rosalia & Bertille went to the picture show in the new school hall, the name of the show was “Noah’s Ark” in 10 reels.  There was a good crowd there.  Admission was 10 and 25¢.

Sunday, Oct. 12, 1930

There are shooting matches for geese and turkeys and ducks all over again today.  Mrs. Threfall has one for geese.  Alfred May, Wm. Reagan & a good many others.  Henry and family stayed for dinner then afterwards went home.  They was supposed to come back to Pete Reheis that Frank Dudenhoeffer was coming out from St. Louis.  Mr. Louis Dudenhoeffer and wife and son and wife were here a little while then they went back to Reheis too.  He wasn’t in this country around here for 40 years.  They was at our house about a half an hour.  Hecker played their last baseball game today with Floraville for this season.  Hecker won 12 to 1.  Rosalia and Bertille went to church, Rosary Devotion this evening.  There was a man here from E. St. Louis here and wanted to buy some eggs, so we sold him 6 doz. for .27¢ a doz.  Pours got the baby christened Ethel.

Sunday, Oct. 5, 1930

Today is shooting matches all over.  Hepe Bros. at St. Joe. Hy. Eichelmann, and many other places.  A ambulance went through town this morning.  The St. Augustine’s Parish is to have a euchre tonight, they called over the lines for it.  Papa & Rosalia each got a prize at the euchre, a dresser scarf & wall flower vase.  Bertille had 4 punches.  Rosalia 8 & Papa 7.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary both had 7’s.  They each got a prize too.  They took a watermelon & a box of sweet potatoes there for prizes.  Elmer Parker got the watermelon.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening a little while before the euchre.  Uncle Fred ate a little supper with us, we were just ready to ate when they came.  There sure was a crowd at the euchre they had 25 tables.  They had a electric radio victrola in the ball for music.  We found 38 eggs today.
