Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon had lunch here, we all went out to the cemetery, cleaned lots there. M.C. Lutz manager of the Waterloo Coal & Supply had $73 stolen last Sat, while he was at Country Club Opening; they have no clue so far. Chas. McDermott spent a few day with home folks, he is now at Palos Park, Ill. Kevin McCarthy a camp boy, spent Sun with home folks; he is in Willow Springs, Ill. taking training for the reforestation camp; Mike McCarthy son Dr. Scott of Mo. is now in business with Dr. N.B. Pautler of Waterloo. Rose & Bert went to Waterloo with a load wheat, 7 bus. got 87¢, sack flour, soft wheat $3.15, went to J. Horn, got a new hub cap put on Whippet.

Beautiful Easter Mon. We washed, ironed, fried in meat. Today is a funeral at Hecker, Catholic cemetery, Irene Durang’s from Newton, Kansas, ship to St. Louis Union Station at 7:30 & there Gundlach has charge & buried at 9:30 here. Mr. Lester Bruns 29 & Melissa Weigand 27, wedding today; Hosto Parsonage at Smithon [sic]. Rosalia & papa went out to haul wood together. Berti spaded chick yard. We went over to Renneckers tonite a little while. Eggs 14¢.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 1933

We were quilting nearly all day. Chas. Jung wanted our eggs, & wanted to pay 1¢ over No 1. Price, till June, he has a contract with a fellow in St. Louis. It pays 14¢ today, we didn’t sell them to him, our egg man paid 14 today, we had 13½ dozs. Alois Havey came here & wanted to see if it was alright to get his hog, so he came back this afternoon again, & then papa hauled it out to his place for him for $1.00, the hog weighed 260 lbs. at $3.50 $9.10, they borrowed the box from Eichenseers. Mrs. Cecil Budde was buried this morning at the Catholic Cemetery here, Dashmer’s ambulance passed through about 9’o clock, if they took her to church we don’t know, there was no mass here for her no how, lot of flowers where had, 5 cars; the paper said strictly private, so we didn’t go, only relatives where there, they say the bullet passed cleared through her head. It isn’t so cold today.
