Papa went to see Roman Schwartz this morn, for trading. He went over to Ed. Mengs this afternoon, & tonite Meng came over here & they went down to see Quathammer, but couldn’t make no trade. Mrs. Rennecker came over this evening, till papa got back. I seen in the Waterloo paper that Emil C. Geoddelle bought the West End garage on the hard road from Clarence Olendorph.

Monday, May 16, 1932

Pentecost Mon, pinic [sic] at Red Bud. It started in raining this morn, so we planted tomato & cabbage plant out, have to water them every night. We washed & ironed; Papa went out on business trip this afternoon. Mr. Quathhammer & son where here & look at the colts. The egg man came he wanted to buy chickens, so he is coming back tomorrow morning again, to get them eggs are still 9ยข.
