Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came, we went in with them to Waterloo, & went out to Paderborn church, with Henry & Leona, church was full couldn’t all get in; so many priests. Fr. Joe [Orlet] had the solemn Requiem High Mass; walked to cemetery, Fr. Aydt had sermon; she [Mrs. Orlet/Leo’s mother] has a concrete vault; she was 64 yrs. old. The pallbearers were Hy, Aloys, Dominic, Andy Roth & Ray Herman, John Mueth. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary, pap went to Percy Starr’s sale this afternoon. Levi Sensel stopped in looked at horses. Pap came home with Grosse from Columbia, he bought a plow here for 25 [cents]; but didn’t take it along.

Saturday, Nov. 27, 1937

Beautiful day. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & pap went to Mrs. Hy. Miller’s sale pap bought plow $4.10 C. Buehler brought it along home, for 25¢. Bert [Bertille] went to town paid light bill $1.16. Eggs are down 25¢ here at store, radio is 23 & 27¢. Henry & family came this eve. played cards, starting in raining & snowing.

Thursday, Feb. 21, 1935

Papa went out to Henry’s, help Mr. Fournie of Ziebold’s place, got the oats, he got 64 bus @ 60¢.  Ivo Rapp was here & asked to for oats. Papa went to Mrs. Gambach &  bought her plow for Henry $2.50; it is in Wm. Gregson’s stable. Henry came furrowed the land. We went to Belleville this afternoon. This evening went out to Henry’s, played cards. Eggs are 22¢ here, we got 17¢ chickens at Belleville.
