Nice day. Susie & German band played songs for Rosalia’s birthday tomorrow. Pap went to Red Bud took car to Schneiber’s get it looked at oil changed etc got 573 miles now. Waterloo & Millsdadt [sic] Home Comings, start this eve. with parade. Susie played for Mr. & Mrs. Jerome Cortner also today. German Band announced Millsdadt [sic] home coming on program. Went to Millsdadt [sic], seen parade & it was good large crowd.

Saturday, Sept. 4, 1937

Rose 26 birthday. Pap went to Waterloo this afternoon, then to W. Wittenauer’s bought 4 pigs $20.00. Rained this morn & afternoon. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came. Bert [Bertille] went along to Milsdadt [sic – Millstadt] homecoming seen parade, beautiful. Leo & Rose were there to. We took chances to win automobile, 10ยข & harness 5. such crowd.

Pap got load corn fodder. He went to Red Bud, put ad in Saxemeyer’s news, went to see McBride. Went to Belleville this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, went to Belleville this evening. Rose went to Millsdadt [sic] Homecoming; this evening to see parade.
