Thursday, Feb. 28, 1935

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, she had dinner & supper here; Rose & Aunt Mary went to Fire Co. quilting in the city hall, this afternoon. Mr. Khong, straw baler man, was here. We went to the Evangical [sic] euchre tonite, Kammlers Hall, didn’t win a prize, had 6 points; the quilt & pillow cases & towel were given away by playing 3 games lotto for 10ยข. Alscas Eckert won 1st quilt, Mrs. Ed. Koerber 2nd, slips. Valmeyer lady 3rd; towel. Miss. Irene Kayson won attendance prize, writing paper; big crowd.

Thursday, Nov. 29, 1934

Thanksgiving Day. Rose & Berti went to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile, then went up to help at the Turkey Dinner at the School; all day affair, lotto this afternoon. Eugene Bruns stopped on business. We made ribs & dressing, pumpkin pie, cranberry relish. Leona & Billy came up to meet Miss Klube on the bus this morning, she is visiting out here today. Mr. Roy Pautler & Miss Lavina Goedelle were married at the Red Bud Catholic parsonage this afternoon, Friedrich of Colombia & Winehof of Waterloo married this morning, we went to Wedding dance at Pautlers musci [sic] from Dupo. Jaegher & Minneman wedding couple also attended the dance, were married at priest house. Uncle Fred came down a little while, said there was a nice crowd at the turkey & Lotto this afternoon. It rained again this evening.

Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1934

Papa & Rosalia went out & got a load wheat. Mrs. Rennecker has a boarder Ferd [Fred?] Smith. The St. Augustine Parish are having a euchre, lotto, pinochle; tonight; in the hall. We cooked kettle soap. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, we all went to the euchre, Rosalia had 8 points, she got a glass & plate, the rest of us got nothing had 7 points. Cecilia Coop won attendance prize, pillow cases. Mr. Albert Griffin was fired at the St. Louis Dairy Station here, another guy Smith got on his place. Frank Hilpert’s wedding ann. today.
