Went to mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary & Leo & family all had dinner here. Went to Paderborn to Totsch’s, wustmarket & free dance & crowd musci [sic] by girls. Joe Freund & Vivian Grahleherr were published last time today, & Jack Ganley & girl from St. Louis for 1 – 2 – 3 time. Fr. Aydt was pretty sore made sermon.

Monday, Nov. 29, 1937

Henry & family & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & we each butchered 1 hog here, 179 lbs. & 168 lbs. – 170 lbs.; had lunch, dinner & supper. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] helped also. Emil came over awhile. Aug. Grahlerr Mrs. Joe Watchels father died will be buried Wed. morning at Hecker. We got 8½ for hogs today. Schmidt brought sack feed & articles down.

Saturday, Sept. 19, 1936

Rained this afternoon. Pap went to Valmeyer to Allotff sale, things brought good price, team mules $400. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped in, they went to Plenger’s sale by Round Prairie, that was a cheap sale. Oscar Birkner bought 106 acres farm, Miller place, were Grahlerrs now fines. $5,800. We went to Floraville to Jac. Reheis birthday dance. music by Schoenborn & Skairs. Gents 25¢.

Thursday, Aug. 18, 1932

We canned 2 qts. tomatoes & ½ pickles, 1 qt. beets. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up all day; lawning & cleaning for Sunday. She helped to cut out shirts for Bobby. Rittemeyer the sales agent was around, he left us a sample brush. Mrs. Louis Millman got operated for appendix Mon, she was at church yet on Sunday. Emmet Cowell is awful sick, has pneoumia [sic]. Mr. Gus Grahlherr is pretty bad sick, has awful pains.
