Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came, he took 2 hogs of ours 410 lbs. @ $6.65 to Belleville she stayed helped paper [wallpaper], also Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt Mary], Olive Laut papered bedroom & kitchen $1.75 from 7 till 7:30 pm all had dinner & supper; Leo came for supper, to, hogs weighed 410 lbs. @ $6.65. Marita was good all nite. A guy around selling fish. Olive bought one 5 lb. @ 10 [cents]. Buffalo Corks [? – unclear]

Sunday, Aug. 21, 1932

We where at Red Bud. Uncle Fred & papa went out to Louis Armstutz’s quarry & got 85 little fish & put them in our pond; all catfish except one sun fish. Henry & family where here for dinner, then we went to the Evangical [sic] pinic [sic] in Manier’s park, ate supper there, 40¢; they had a nice day & crowd pretty fair. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Matthews of Waterloo, have a little baby girl since yesterday 10½ lbs; she is by Geodelle’s at home.

Friday, August 8, 1930

Papa & Rosalia took a load of wheat to Red Bud this morning & got .82¢ a bu. for it.  Today is Mrs. Ronenberg’s birthday.  They are to have a surprise party tomorrow night.  It is also Mr. & Mrs. Adam Eckerts wedding anniversary.  Last Monday Mr. & Mrs. Fred Doyle got a little boy.  They now have 2 boys.  I seen in the paper that Mr. & Mrs. Joe Klingler have a little boy.  Papa & Rosalia took another load of wheat to Red Bud this afternoon & got same price.  Papa got his watch repaired, cost him $1.00.  Papa brought a fish along this morning for dinner, it sure was good.  It costs .30¢.  It rained this evening, a little shower.  Herzogs are moving Bill Herzog today & tomorrow.
