Sunday, March 19, 1939

Went to mass. Leo & family came for dinner. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary & Bill [Klein] came this afternoon had supper, we went fishing Bill caught one Uncle ate it for supper. Emil came this eve. We had collection 2nd in church today for German Refugees; according to Bishof [sic] laws. John Wiegand, nee Kleber have a baby boy since Tues.

Sunday, Oct. 23, 1938

Went to mass. Mission, had only 1 collection today, for missions. Went out to Uncle Fred’s had dinner & supper there. Leo & family were there all day to. Awful cold tonite, going freeze.

Sunday, Jan. 31, 1937

We didn’t get to church, Chev. wouldn’t work. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, had dinner here, took up collection outside church this morn. here for flood sufferers. Was suppose to be all churches the way the Messenger read; wasn’t at Waterloo Henry said. Some fellows here from Wartburg bought sow & 5 pigs & $35.00. Henry & family came, we went along to Mr. & Mrs. Leo Orlets at Paderborn, played 6 hand pinochle, had lunch; they were just ready to come down here. Getting colder tonite.

Sunday, Dec. 6, 1936

Went to mass. Pap took his budget envelope back he put in $5.00. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had breakfast with us, then went home. Leo came this afternoon had supper, they went to Belleville to St. Mary’s parish closing of the mission. Omer & Bert went out to Henry’s played cards. It is awful cold tonite.

Sunday, Nov. 10, 1935

Went to Red Bud; Got envelope for house collection instead of having chicken supper; Papa put in $5.00 donation, all included. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up for late mass, he pumped the water out of the cellar; Raining all nite, heavy thunder & lightening [sic]. Jimine & Dick radio stars, playing for a dance at Dreamland tonite.
