Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1939

Went to Leo’s. Pap helped Leo saw logs down, had dinner & supper. Bill [Klein] came & looked at Leo’s car, has coil burned out, going to order from Kettler bring along tomorrow. Ladies Aid have euchre in hall tonite. Annie Fahey of Red Bud died, will be buried tomorrow morn. from Red Bud there had 3 priests for mass. Fr. Havey, Aydt, Spors. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up for the euchre, nice crowd they said. Klotz’s girls were lucky, one winning quilt & blanket.

Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1939

Raining all morning & nite. Emil came paid for eggs . Clara Mueth of St. Louis passed away yesterday morn, will be laid out at Quernheim’s after 6 o clock tonite, till sat. morn at 9:30 mass at Hecker & to cemetery pretty long time. Dudenhoeffer’s here. We went to Waterloo this afternoon got egg mash. Mrs. Fred Miller – Eva’s mother was buried this afternoon there, Evangical [sic] church. Went to Geo. Wagner’s played cards, ladies won against gents. Catholics got euchre tonite, raining quite a bit, after 10 [degrees].

Thursday, Dec. 29, 1938

Cloudy this morn., & afterwards a beautiful day, nice sunshine. Went out to Uncle Freds for dinner & supper. This eve. Orlet family came & took us along went out there again, we played cards, had candy, nuts, pop corn etc. The paper says Andrew Mueth 62 yrs. old was buried Tues. morn. with Requiem High Mass in Paderborn, & to cemetery; but he wasn’t going to church so that false report, priest was at house & prayed & also at cemetery; they say. Got our truck license 29510.

Tuesday, Nov. 29, 1938

Went to Draber’s funeral this morn. brought him out from Belleville, Gardner’s Funeral Home, to church here, mass by Fr. Aydt, Freund, Ratterman took him back to Belleville to Green Mount Cemetery; church was packed, all Orbon Stove Worker’s had to be present here; it was a very sad funeral. We went to Belleville this afternoon shopping. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up to to this morn. Wm. Ganley was here. We went to Emil’s.

Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1938

Went to Red Bud to funeral of Mrs. Galagher 79 yrs. old. Fr. Havey read the mass & sermon, also by him & Fr. Spors, none of Crowes out from city; large funeral. Went to sale at Red Bud, neighbor to Buehler’s; in there shed.
