Rain this afternoon. Awful fog this morn. Levi Gregson came paid for his 2 hogs. $39.40. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary, Leo & Rose [Rosalia] were all here for dinner. A. Mary went to Sodality Meeting & church this afternoon. Rules by the bishoff [sic – bishop] were read in all church this morn, Sat. nite dances forbidden, no intoxicating drinks at parties & pinics [sic], but a card party & pinics [sic] may be held but less frequently. Collection for school this morn. Levi Gregson’s & Joe’s, Lee & girl friend were all by Emil lately.

Beautiful day, cool this morn. Uncle Adam gets buried this morn. 9 o’clock mass, church & cemetery here. Leo & Rose came, we went along with them to Uncle Adam’s funeral; pretty large, but still a lot of people that weren’t there; to busy time right now, with threshing coming on. Rose & Bert [Bertille] had to say 10 Hail Mary’s before leaving, didn’t have time to recite the rosary they said. Pallbearers were Ed. & Emil – sons & Joe & Levi Gregson brother in laws & Lester & Lee grandchildren; something different. Henry came got some boards. Edwin & Fred Reheis are putting up hay here. Pretty cool evenings the last while. The Bishoff [sic – Bishop] has appointed new priests to take different places today; Red Bud has a get together of parish tonite. Fr. Spors from Johnston City is coming to Red Bud, & Fr. Havey is going to Johnson City. Waterloo is Underkoefler from West Frankfort, & Paderborn is also having a newly ordained one as assistant to Fr. Toennis; who is ill.

Confirmation in Hecker today. Bischop [sic] comes, Fr.’s Harbaugh says mass with Havey & Schumacher, sub deacons; 40 children. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, Rosalia & Berti went along up to church, Mrs. Kroll was convert. Henry & Floyd was here for dinner, Leona brought Emil up, made hay this afternoon, all had lunch. didn’t get finished, hauled 2 loads in & took 2 home, so far.

Papa & Rosalia went in the woods; this morn. Ed. Neff has sold his tools to Hugo Probst who is going to start up a garage, Neff quit, he has chicken pox now. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening & we went to Burksville to Dugan’s Hall, Tiptown congregation was going to give a euchre & dance there, but orders came from the bishop to have it at Tiptown, so they had to take tables all out & take them there, this afternoon first. So we went back home again, looked to much like rain to drive there, went by Waterloo home stopped at Rexs got ice cream, then went home. Some Euchre, Oh. Boy!
