Went to mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped awhile. Henry came & got things for butchering tomorrow. Bill [Klein] & Bert [Bertille] went to Leo’s this eve. played cards. Mrs. Orlet is out there for couple of days. Advent started today.

Saturday, Dec. 26, 1936

Cleaned. Rained a little, warm & cloudy. We got a electric lamp from J. Keller for Christmas bucket style. We got an invitation for Is. Helfrichs birthday dance at Floraville at Kern’s tonite, also is V. Cortner’s. Advent is over, dances start again, Oak Grove has one, give $1. for attendance price every hr. tonite. Pautler’s has double birthday dance tomorrow nite all free. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here for dinner, he went to Waterloo & to Red Bud this afternoon. Played cards.

Saturday, Dec. 14, 1935

Pap got crushing done. Con Myerscough & son Leo stopped in to see our mare, didn’t buy yet. Rain this afternoon & nite. Berti got a answer from the Extension Magazaine [sic] that dances in advent & lent, was no sin, & could also go on St. Patricks. night. Myrtle Keim of Waterloo is having a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite. Moonlight Orch. Adm. Gents 25 ladies free.

Sunday, December 1, 1935

Advent. Went to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile. Fourth’s of Tiptown was here, looked at hiefers [sic] & colt. John Myerscough also came to see them; him & papa went out to see the horses at Henry’s. The Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving here brought in clear $153; he says success. Oscar Birkner had the baby christened Fri; sponsors Ben Schilling Cecelia Krehrer; named it Muriel Cecelia. Pretty cold tonite, freezing hard.

Sunday, Dec. 2, 1934

Went to church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stop awhile. We were home all day & night. Advent starts today. Mr. Kenneth Kemp & mother returned home last week, from a few days visit with there daughter & sister, Meredit at Texas, by motor.

Saturday, December 1, 1934

We butchered 2 hogs, 155 & 200 lbs. Uncle Fred, Henry & family, all helped, had lunch & dinner. Uncle & Aunt also stayed for supper, then in evening went along with us to Pautler’s Hall, dance, musci [sic] by Moonlighters, Gents 25 & ladies free; last dance now before Advent; pretty nice crowd. Hy. Armstutz was here.

Sunday, Dec. 3, 1933

Went to Waterloo to mass, cause making hard road to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had dinner here, then went home, Armstutzs came out there. Today Advent starts. Mr. Jake Merlhmans birthday today. Gus Millman is visiting his sister Mrs. Wm. Kelley of Ruma who is ill.
