Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed here all nite had breakfast here, we went to bed at 3 ‘o clock this morning dance lasted till 1:30, also had keg beer, box cigars, lemonade etc.; Pap & Rose & Bert went to Orlets. Querheims brought in the furniture, Eichenseers the stove, all had dinner there, Isd. is still there, the old folks live in Smithton now. We have so much of everything left, cake, pie; sure bad today ice – Aunt May send her a $5.00 wedding present. Val Adams & Gusta were out for the dance; just everybody was there. Hy & family & Lizzie Boll, came to see the presents & helped to wrap them, Leo & Rose & Isd. came to, this eve. they got stuck first in the lane, road; We cleaned up on wedding cake, sent a piece to Uncle Adam, Fr. Stern & Orlet & his housekeeper Ann & Aunt Mary, drank beer, even had to throw about 1 gal. of it away yet. Is. brought the paper along, the write up was in the New Democrat.

We all went out to Henry’s this morning & took them along, we left about 7 o’clock to go to Frank Dudenhoeffers in St. Louis. We went to St. Thomas Church over there, & then down to the house. We had dinner, then we went over to see Val. Adams a little while, the men played pinochle, Henry, Ed, Jac, Irvin, Val. Then we back again to Gusta’s had lunch & then went home we left about 3:30. We made a short stop at Geodell’s they where going to Henry’s this eve. Philip came out & we rode along with him to Sensel’s barn dance, there sure was a crowd there, quite a few people from Hecker where there. There was a fight at Oak Grove Tues. – night, wedding dance, the McKoneys boys jumped on the McCarthy boys. Gregory was stunned for a while, they had to carry water & throw it on him, his jaw was swollen the next day yet.
Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1930
Aunt Mary called up this morning and said we should come out they had company from St. Louis. So this afternoon we went out there. Mr. & Mrs. Val Adams & children Ellen & Eugene & Mrs. Frank Dudenhoeffer from St. Louis were there, but they couldn’t stay very long on account of Val had to start work at 5:30. We had lunch out there. Uncle Fred & Papa sawed our barrel in two after the company left. Tonight is a dance down at Wiegand’s place, Herzog & Schultz is giving it. Herzog wants to advertise his music, we have an invitation but we ain’t going. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went.

Aunt Mary and Uncle Fred had dinner with us. Henry was up for church, then went home because they wanted to go away. After dinner we went up to church. We had lenten service. After we came down from church, the St. Louis people were here. Mr. & Mrs. Sigmund Dudenhoefer, Ellen Adams (their niece) & Frank Singer and Ervin Lensinger (?). They all had lunch here. Then we all got our picture taken, one on the front and one on the South side by the well. The men Papa, Uncle Fred and Sigmund, got a picture taken by the chicken house. In the evening, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came back again. They brought some potatoes up to Brauns store. Mr. Jake Koch died at New Athens today. Ed Parker’s little baby girl died suddenly. We found 31 eggs today.
