Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up this afternoon. We sewed dresses; they had lunch here. It is awful hot.

We washed, ironed, patched. Our Waterloo paper never came at all last week, the mail got robbed from the depot at Red Bud on Thurs. nite. There where 3 people tried to kidnap a Kaffenberg child in Red Bud last week, but didn’t succeed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, we helped them plant sweet potatoe plants out, what they had left, we planted in out patch, great big plants they are, they got them from Oscar Birkner. Mr. Hill & Miller where here wanted to buy hatching eggs, we couldn’t sell him none.

The St. Marcus Church of Round Prairie are giving pinic [sic], chicken supper today. Miss Cornelia Kuhn 20 & Albert Brazelton 24 are being married at the home of the bride, George Kuhn Sr. this afternoon. Miss Emily George & Walter Miller are best. Reception will be held in eve. The Hecker ball team will play High Prairie at Hecker today & won 10 to 14. We went to Uncle Fred’s today for dinner & supper. Papa went over to Ed Meng’s looked at his colts & mule.

Papa & Rosalia hauled 2 loads of wheat yesterday, one to Waterloo got 65¢ & to Red Bud 66¢. We went to Mrs. Frank Metzgers sale bought 60¢, Leona got washing machine 10¢. George Wiegand 37 & Alma Koerber 30 are getting married at 1:30 in Smithon [sic] parsonage, Ralph Weigand & Adelia Kooerber are best, the wedding dinner will be held at Louis Koerber’s. Mr. Alois Rheinhardt St. of Paderborn, is being buried this morn, Clifford called in awhile this evening. We went over to Steve Renneckers. Melvin Wagner is 4 yrs. old today. Awful hot.

Nice an cool, morning & nights; We got an invitation card from Mamie Mueth & Slyvester Hellmer, to attend there wedding dance at Brezzy Hill on June 28 at 8 o clock; & to tell Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & Leona, Everybody welcome. The Waterloo paper never came this week. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here.

Thursday, June 15, 1933

We went out picking dew berries, got 8 gals. gave Leona 4 Aunt Mary one; we where at Uncle Freds for dinner, went over to get some cherries; she has 22 qts. so far. Henry & family where up & got the mule this morning. Biebels where here this afternoon. Henry started in cutting wheat this afternoon; we cleaned the berries, & caned 4 qts. cold packed, & made 16 glasses jelley. Clara Wagner & kids came over this evening; she wants to buy some soap grease from us. eggs still 7¢ yet. Victor Braun was down & brought Ins. policy on our house; it is $24.74 this time, raised since last year, papa him.

Flag Day. Rosealia [sic] & Bertille went to church at Red Bud to the Wedding High Mass of Ed. Schilling & Mary Forness. Chars. Schilling brother & her sister where the attendants. The bride wore white & veil, & bridesmaid wore light pink & with white hat with pink ribbon, organdy dress; the brothers & sisters where there to; he is going to have wedding dance at Oak Grove tonite; everybody welcome. Papa got the lawn mower sharpened at Bill Fritsche for 10¢. Papa went to the pulbic [sic] Sale of Joe Braun’s property in town which was turned over to Jac. Schmidt Receiver, he sold it lots & house all for $950.00, to Lester Gregson, the only bidders where Joe Griffin, Barney Kaiser, Lester; he got it. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening & we went to the Wedding dance, gave her sugar bowl & milk pitcher, Schilling’s Moonlighter’s furnished musci [sic], & a crowd. the brides slipper was sold by Gus Kabrinick brought $12.50.

Rosalia & Bertille went out washing at Henry’s. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, Mr. Walsh a student for priesthood at St. Henry’s College Belleville, was here selling papers to pay for his schooling; papa didn’t take any. There was a man here from Belleville selling gas. Good many people started cutting wheat.

We washed, ironed. George Wagner brought our [illegible] back this morning. Henry came up with the team, & took our Whip & got 2 loads of coal & put them in the wagon here papa used his team so long working corn; he had lunch & dinner here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, cut Bert’s dress out. It sure is nice & cool today, beautiful. Mr. & Mrs. Herman Goessling have a little baby girl born Fri. nite; she was Adalia Wagner, she is pretty bad sick, had Fr. Aydt out there. Stern was called out some where.

Sunday, June 11, 1933

Today is band concert in Smithon [sic], & the News Democrat Corres. was to have there pinic [sic] at Daab’s ClubHouse but was given up now on account of the concert. there is pinic [sic] & cold supper here, given by the Evangical [sic] church; we went down awhile, watch the ball game between Red Bud & Hecker, the latter won 5 to 3; there wasn’t much doing at the pinic [sic] in the afternoon, everybody was at Smithon [sic]; at the band concert; the Koehler’s Orch. furnished music for the pinic [sic], Casper Koehler, Rahn, Cowell, Auelibou, are in the band. Uncle Fred won the quilt that was raffled, & a dandy. Bertille got pair pillow cases at playing bluey. Ed Schilling was published for 3 times & wedding will be Wed. morn. 8 o’clock at Red Bud dance at Oak Grove in the evening. Mamine Mueth & Bess Hillmer where published 1st time in Waterloo.
